Tax notices are sent out at the end of June and are due
and payable by
July 31st
A monthly installment plan is available and applications
can be picked up at the Town Office. Payments can
also be done via on-line or telephone banking.
We accept cheques, cash or debit.

Garbage/Recycling collection is done by:
GFL (Green For Life) Environmental
If you need to put out additional bags (for household garbage, grass
clippings or garden refuse, maximum weight per bag of 25 kg.), tags
may be purchased from the Town Office for $2 per tag per bag.

As an alternate, residents may take their garbage to the
Clairmont Landfill (2 miles west, 1 mile north of Clairmont). A
minimum tipping fee of $10 will be charged. Loads must be
tarped.

businesses and communities in Alberta with business advisory and
economic development services.
is now available to meet with Community Groups to discuss grant
opportunities. Holly will assist with researching funding opportunities,
assessing organizational capacity, and suggesting resources, and assisting
groups in completing grant applications or other organization plan
documents.

23. CITIZENS ON PATROL
(COPS)
The mission of C.O.P.S is to build safer communities by mobilizing Sexsmith citizens to
participate in a community-based crime prevention initiative in co-operation with our
local law enforcement agencies. It is for citizens to actively assist police officers by
relieving some of their workload. C.O.P. volunteers patrol parks, schools, businesses,
hotels, and residential neighborhoods. Patrol duties include observing and reporting any
unusual or suspicious activities to RCMP or County Peace officers. These special
volunteers provide a deterrent to crime and a feeling of security for citizens and visitors
by remaining highly visible in the community. Citizens on Patrol do not carry weapons or
have powers of arrest.
QUALIFICATIONS
Anyone interested in becoming a Citizens on Patrol volunteer must:· Be at least 21
years of age.· Possess a valid driver's license.· Submit to a reference check and
criminal records check.

MUSEUM SOCIETY
Sexsmith has a very active Museum Society that has, among other
activities:
• worked on the downtown revitalization project
• got the NAR station back to its original location &
restored it
• brought an NAR caboose to the restored station
• brought a log barn back to its original location in town
• moved back to town and helped restore the historic
Paszkowski house
• obtained ownership of the abandoned UGG elevators,
thus preserving the historic skyline of Sexsmith.

Sexsmith FCSS has a Home Support program open to any resident who
may be recovering from illness or pregnancy, or who, because of physical
limitations, cannot complete household chores.
Home Support provides basic house cleaning, including floors, bathrooms,
laundry, and simple meal preparation. In order to make this service
accessible, fees range from $3.50 - $14.00/hr and are based on income.

34. SEXSMITH WALK/RUN CLUB
Friends, Motivation and Fitness
Get Involved, Get Active, Get Healthy
We will meet at the Sexsmith Shannon Library at
9:00 a.m. starting June 1, 2014. Membership is only $25.00
(under 18 & over 55 are FREE). Expect a friendly, social
atmosphere. Our goal is to make exercise accessible,
enjoyable & consistent. There will also be opportunities for
health education as it pertains to walking & running. Group
leaders will be on hand to accommodate various speeds.

36. Sexsmith’s Own Community Garden
Wanting to grow some vegetables but don't have anywhere to
put a garden? Are you a renter and can't plant a garden? Why
not rent a plot from the Town of Sexsmith for our new
community garden north of the train depot!!!!! Plots are
$25.00/plot/year plus we require a $25.00 deposit for a water

or to make arrangements to rent a plot!!!!!

37. We have been hard at work for the past few months with the development
of our new website and app for iPhone and Android. We are pleased to
announce the launch of our brand new website TODAY!!!!!
We are still at www.sexsmith.ca but it has a great new look and updated
information. Please take a look around and check out some of the website
features and let us know what you think. Find the iPhone app in the App
Store and the Play Store for android. Turn on your push notifications for
the latest news and information updates.

38. Come on out with the whole family and walk,
stroll, bike, scooter through the 1st annual
pumpkin walk. Happening on main Street on
October 30, 2015, 300 pumpkins will line the
walking path for you to stroll through and admire
the carving talents of students from St. Mary's,
Robert W. Zahara, Sexsmith Secondary School
and the Sexsmith homeschoolers. Stay tuned to
Facebook for more details.

39. This Saturday from 4:00-6:00pm, Disturbing The Peace Youth
Conference will be knocking on doors to collect food for the
Sexsmith Food Bank! With 500 young people around Sexsmith we are
able to knock on every door in a matter of minutes! If you see groups
of young people around, please give them a friendly wave, and
encourage them as they help us out. Please help us make this a
success by answering your doors, and talking with these young people!
