Scott did a great job of incorporatinga variety of instructional approaches and resources. This madesome of his
lessons very effective. He also used a variety of ways to assessif the students were understandinghis lessons ashe
taught and created appropriatequizzes and tests. Scott at times needs to work at askingthe "right" questions. For
example, attimes he would ask a question to the entire class and waitfor a response. Sometimes he wouldn't get a
response, so he would justgive the class theanswer. By doing this he is unsureif his question was so easy that they

discussed a behavior he wanted changed and did this very tactfully and effectively.
5. The teachercandidate can describe howfaith (worldview) impactsthe way they teach and learn.

Please respondto ONE of the prompts below, basedon whetheryour school is publiclyfundedor faith-
based.
Faith-BasedSchools: Teacher candidatesat CalvinCollege are nurtured and challengedto developan
understandingof how the Bible informs theirteaching, content, and visionfor education and its
connectionto society. Please commenton how well the teachercandidate articulates and enacts this
understanding.
PubliclyFundedSchools:Teacher candidates at Calvin College are nurturedand challengedtodevelopa
principledperspective thatinformstheir teaching, content, and visionfor educationand its connectionto
society. Please comment on how well the teacher candidate articulatesand enactsthis perspective.
Scott did a great job of communicatinghis faith in God. He did this whileteaching, duringprayer, and duringour
devotional time on Fridays with the students. He didn'tjustread a devotional, but gave some personal thoughts on i t
and gave students and opportunity to comment. He didn't justtalk the talk. He walked the walk.
Summary Comments:
I was very pleased with all the time and effort Scott put into his student teaching. I think he can improve by makinghis
lesson plans morethorough. For example, what questions to ask the classand when to ask them. I know this might
not fithis personality, butitwould definitely take some pressureoff remembering everything he wants to accomplish
in class whilehe is teaching. Other than that, he was a very effective teacher who was well received and respected by
the students.
