ECF’s Mission
“To secure a future for elephants and to sustain the beauty and ecological integrity of the places they
live; to promote man’s delight in their intelligence and the diversity of their world, and to develop a
tolerant relationship between the two species.”

Birth of ECF
Elephants are highly smart, sensitive and friendly. Stunning. Breathtaking.
It’s heart-breaking to accept the true reality of the current state that elephants around the world are at risk
and they can well be washed-away within a generation’s time, merely because their tusks are being
snatched away from them, without their permission.
The Elephant Crisis Fund was founded 25 years ago by renowned elephant expert Dr. Hamilton. It is a
joint initiative by Save the Elephants, partnered with WCN and the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, to
address the current braising crisis of the elephants. This is done through funding of projects around the
world that take action to stop poaching, trafficking and demand for ivory. (Only elephants should be
allowed to wear ivory!)

Ending the Ivory Crisis
Each year, thousands and thousands of elephants are killed for ivory. It is absolutely unfair that
humans think they have the right to take something away from the elephants, something they were
welcomed into this world with, naïvely because they cannot voice their thoughts in a language that can
be understood by the humans.
STE has taken upon themselves to rescue the Kenyan elephants, which is the home for their
headquarters, as well as across the globe.

Stop the Killing
of Elephants
Potential Ways to Resolve
Top-tiered professionals and scientists, alongside topnotch front-line conservation
organizations, hand-in-hand with the governments decided that there were 3 key methods, with
equal importance, that can be implemented ASAP in order to end the ivory crisis:
Stop the
Trafficking of
Ivory
Stop Ivory
Demand

Point-of-View
This initiative is designed and
crafted carefully for long-
term benefits, so yes, it is
obviously beneficial. The
elephants need/needed to be
rescued and this issue had to
be raised ASAP. Now that it
has been identified by Dr.
Hamilton, the main idea is to
create awareness amongst
individuals so that they too
take part in rescuing these
lovely species.
Kind of. At a minimum,
30,000 elephants are killed
for their tusks in Africa. That
is a HUGE number, for
which the humans will never
be able to pay back. It is clear
that the world needs to come
together to resolve this major
issue. Just because the
elephants reside in a
continent different than
yours, does not mean they
are not your responsibility.
#WeAreTogether
It is difficult to say how
many people around the
world actually care about the
environment and the living
beings. But, the videos do
make a person feel emotional
as the graphics, music and
the informative pop-up texts
in the midst of the videos,
make up a good summary of
what is going on with the
poor elephants, and how the
current actions are unfair
upon them.
Is this initiative effective in the
long-run?
Is the initiative achieving it’s
goal?
Do the videos resonate with the
audience?
