 Godaddy has a sale for .com sites 0.99/year  You might see it from google search  If you go directly to site, you do not see  But if you search google and click on their promotional ad, you can get 0.99/year for first year.  1and1.com also is giving cheaper domain names  If you are in Canada, it might be, it actually is better to buy from Canadian providers, it will help you with exchange rate changes...
 Does not matter for 0.99 but if the domain is 15$  If the hosting is say $35/month or $50/month  Or for dedicated hosting >= $250/month (when I had dedicated last, it probably was like this)  Right now, you are paying 1.4 times if you bought from US providers and was priced in US$ - anyway..come back to purchasing a domain name
 I will buy a .org domain  Trying to create a blog for my undergraduate University for a community like blog...  Will buy and build a blog AND will invite them to contribute...anyway..  Purchasing a domain...
 So you see 0.99 from godaddy...  Apparently, 1and1.com is giving cheaper price and their offer is good in general  .org seems cost more than .com and .info  Buying domain only...  I can provide hosting on my own...  Yes, I am already a customer...
 Well, the domain got bought...  Let me point it to a hosting...i.e. Create a dummy hosting...  THE HOSTING IS in a different place than the domain  So I have to change DNS info for the domain..  The hosting is not working yet  Need to wait a bit say 4 hours then it will point to the new hosting...then I have to install and configure the blog...
 Anyway, bye bye  Nothing great, just if helps anyone...
