Sarah is an undergraduate product design student from Hawaii who is inspired by finding beauty in ordinary things. She enjoys the outdoors and experiments with materials to integrate organic and everyday objects in her designs. One of her designs is the Country Side Rocker, an angular rocking chair made of black-coated steel and reclaimed teakwood. It allows the user to recline back comfortably while highlighting the integration of rustic and industrial fabrication in a cohesive, simplistic design.

Sarah is an undergraduate Product Design student at the
University of Oregon. Originally from Hawaii, she is inspired
by the notion that beauty can be found in ordinary things.
Sarah enjoys the outdoors and sees a connection between

The Country Side Rocker is a rocking chair unlike most
others. This version of the quintessential rocking chair has
an angular base to allow the user to lean back to a reclined
positionwheretheycandreamaboutyearspastandtheones
tocome.ThedesignconceptfitsintoGroovystuff’sIronHorse
product line. The chair is constructed from black-coated
steel and reclaimed teakwood. The Country Side Rocker is
constructedwithroundedboltsandcanbedisassembledand
shipped flat for ideal delivery productivity and cost reduction.
Aesthetically, the design highlights the integration of rustic
and industrial fabrication and its cohesive, simplistic beauty.
