7th European Symposium on South American Camelids and 3rd European Meeting on Fibre Animals
1. General information
Assisi is a small Umbrian town in central Italy, located 19 km east of
Perugia at an elevation of 400 meters. Assisi, best known as the
birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan order, is
one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy. The nearest
international airports are Perugia (Sant’Egidio), Ancona (Raffaello
Sanzio) and Rome (Fiumicino and Ciampino). The Assisi railway
station forms part of the Foligno-Terontola railway, which links
Florence, Rome and Ancona. By car there are highways from Rome,
Florence and Bologna (E45). The Symposium will be held at the
Convention Center at the Domus Pacis Hotel (www.domuspacis.it)

2. About the Meeting
Following the tradition of previous events, the
Symposium will cover a broad range of topics related to
the breeding and keeping of South American domestic
and wild Camelids, wool sheep, Cashmere and Angora
goats, Angora rabbit and all other fibre mammals in
Europe and in the World. The invitation to participants
interested in all fibre producing animals is expected to
stimulate the exchange of knowledge and thus
enabling their expertise to be implemented on a more
general scale.
