3. Purpose and Hypotheses
The purpose of the present study was to determine
if there was a difference in effectiveness between
different therapy types
The hypotheses of the present study was that mean
gain scores for the drug and cognitive-behavioral
therapy condition would be higher than both just
drug and just cognitive-behavioral therapy
conditions
5. Participants
N = 60
Aged 18-30
Type 1 Diabetes and Depressive Disorder
Participation was voluntary and anonymous and participants were
treated in accordance with the “Ethical Principles of Psychologist
and Code of Conduct” (APA, 2002)
8. Procedure
• Signed Consent
• Baseline depression measured
• Divided into three groups
Group 1: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Group2: Medication
Group 3: Combination
• 2 months of Therapy
• Depression level measured
• Debriefed and Released
9. Results
• There was significant difference of mean gain scores for
therapy type F (2, 57) = 122.18, p<.05
• Significant difference between all group pairings
