10. ARMY
The government committed to reducing imports and promoting
ATMANIRBHARTA in equipment for the Armed Forces.
India has introduced AGNIVEER scheme to give more strength to the
army.
Indian Army has got 37,231 cr. for the procurement of modern weapons
almost 15.6% increase from the last year budget.
11. Total allocation of Rs 57,132 cr.
(3.6% more then last year Rs 55,586 cr)
The Indian Air Force has got 3 squadrons of 4.5 generation
Rafale fighter jet.
Indigenous LCH helicopter giving strength to Indian air force in high
terrain areas
12. Indian Navy
Allocated Rs 52,804 cr in this year.
It has got its first indigenous Aircraft carrier last year.
Navy also got 2 destroyers and scorpene-class submarine
in addition to this navy also got US-build MH-60R
Helicopter.
By using this budget Indian navy will procure fighter jets for
their aircraft carriers.
15. Allocation and Trends of Defence Budget over last 10
years
Grown at an annualised average rate of 9% over the last 10 years.
Current year increase is 13% i.e. 4% more than the average.
Overall our budget constitutes 8% of total budget.
Defence expenditure as a part of total GDP fell from 2.3% in 2013 to 2% in
2022-23.
In last decade percentage of total govt expenditure fell from 16.4% to 13.3% .
