relief, emergency and development Program Manager with a wide range of experience in

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
1) Country Program Manager, Integrated Community Development Food
for the Hungry International Ethiopia, January 1, 2013 up now. Supervise 4
Project Managers and Program Development Officer at Addis Ababa
Program Planning and Development
 Manage the overall program of Country Integrated child focused Community transformation
development Programs by developing the detail action plan, and monitoring and evaluation
system.
 Conduct need assessment and design new project proposals for all Country Integrated
Community development and child focused projects in order to scale up the ongoing community
Development projects and new intervention areas.
 Develop and execute strategic and operational plans and tactics, aligned with corporate
strategy, vision and values.
 Ensure that the Integrated Community development project is operating in accordance with the
annual plan of actions, project proposal document and also to the standard required by donors
and partner government agencies.
 Make follow up on their implementation capacity through field visit and asses post training
impact in close consultation with the respective Area project manager and project coordinators.
 Coordinate for any changes occurred during the implementation and report to the Program
Director.
 Make sure that donor’s grant conditions are adhered to and deadlines for different reporting due
dates. If there is any deviation from the agreed plan, notify the program director on time.
 Prepare Impact and success story on livelihood and agricultural input projects for the targeted
Community.
 Actively seek funding opportunities in collaboration with the Program Director, Operations
Director and Country Director, liaise with donors and prepare proposals and budget to relevant
donors.
Program Communication
 Represent the organization in different meetings held at the country level for integrated
community development programs and report on issues that need higher-level management
attention in time.

Staff management:
 Conduct staff training need assessment and develop annual training plan in close collaboration
with Training and Knowledge management department.
 Promote positive interaction and collaboration among the project staff as well as partner
community.
 Closely work with the people and culture department in staffing of the project with appropriate
or qualified staff committed to the organization’s Vision, Mission and Values.
Resource Management
I. Financial Management
 Responsible for effective and efficient financial management and accounting for all incomes and
expenditures pertaining to the project. Conduct discussion with the project manager/finance and
administration manager on the status of financial utilization of the project and explanations for
variances.
 Ensure cash flow request for the year by breakdowns for each quarter based only on the fund
pledged.
 Ensure not only cost effectiveness but also, as much as possible, cost efficiency in all the processes
of project implementation.
 Make sure that the budgets and activity plans have got written approval before
implementation.
II. Material management
 Ensure that effective and efficient management of all project physical/fixed assets.
 Make sure that custodial responsibilities are always separated from the controlling for the sake of
good commodity/fixed assets management.
Monitoring and Evaluation
 Design appropriate monitoring and evaluation methodology based on the nature of the
programs in consultation with the monitoring and evaluation unit.
 Develop user friendly program quality assurance tools and ensure their applicability.
Reporting
 Responsible for the on-time submission of the monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual project
progress reports in accordance with the format and the deadline set by donors’ and government
offices.
 Prepare any extra report as required by the donor or stakeholders and submit on time to the
concerned body.
2) Job Title: Area Project Manager September 1, 2010 up December 31, 2012, FHE (Food for
the Hungry Ethiopia) Zeway Project East Shoa Zone Oromia Regional State. Supervise
Project Coordinators and Project Officers (Education, Health, Transformational
Development and Liaison, Infrastructure/Site Engineer, Livelihood, Finance and Admin)
Decision-making
Makes decisions, lead and manage all teams in projects effectively to ensure response to most
vulnerable, community based development and emergency response associated programs and ensures
the team works are effectively managed.
 Coordinate the creation of communications and relay information/ ideas across the work group.
 Coordinate networks and seek opportunities to work with others for mutual and work-group
benefit.
 Advocate own ideas, probe issues and opinions, and anticipate challenge.
 Coordinate the review of issues affecting the work group and support the implementation of
agreed actions.

 Ensure programmatic budget monitoring and management of outputs against spending but also
ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
 Responsible for project documentation
 Actively seek funding opportunities in collaboration with the Program Manager and Support
Manager, liaise with donors and prepare proposals and budget to relevant donors.
 At operational level work closely and hold regular meetings with the Project Officers (Education,
Livelihood, WASH, Health and Nutrition, Infrastructure/Site Engineer, Finance and
Administration Officer) in order to improve program integration and cooperation at all levels.
 Coordinate effective implementation of clear security protocol for Food Distribution for OVCs
and any Emergency Cases.
 Ensure all project activities are conducted in accordance with agreed work-plan and
proposal/agreement documents.
 Make sure that all project staff members prepare and submit a monthly action plan within one
week before the new month starts for their activity.
 Submit monthly and quarterly reports to National Office including activity summary, progress
against objectives, commodity distributed, beneficiary caseload data, achievements to date,
issues faced, impact stories and financial expenditure.
 Timely update HR /Human Resource/ records for all project staff in the district area of operation,
logistic matters, leave and contractual changes as they arise.
 Establish clear strategy and direction for Orphan and Vulnerable Child Development, Child
Headed and Emergency Projects in the area of operation in collaboration with the National
Programs Operations Unit.
 Ensure the preparation of detail implementation plans (DIP) for all Approved Projects based on
the Agreement Documents.
 Enforce stewardship by ensuring efficient and effective utilization of project resources for the
intended purpose.
 Make sure that programs’ evaluation by partners (community, co-project signatories, and
donors) is done at the project site and all the stakeholders are satisfied in consultation with the
Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator.
 Manage overall base camp situation of the project area.
3) Job Title: Project Manager, November 1, 2008 up to October 31, 2009 FHI(Food for the
Hungry International/Ethiopia) Tach Gayint Project South Gondor Ethiopia
Major Responsibilities
As Project Manager Manage Projects of MYAP/PSNP (Multiyear assistant program of USAID
development food aid programs). Program Management and coordination of 58 staff under Tach
Gayint Project of South Gonder zone. The rest responsibility is similar with the previous project
manager post.
4) Job Title: Regional Grant and Relief Program Officer World Vision Ethiopia, November 1,
2006 up to October 31, 2008.
Major Responsibilities
 Participate in World Vision Ethiopia’s Grant and Relief Program development capacity
building activities among the Government of Ethiopia and Ethiopian non-governmental and
community-based partner organizations within an expanded and comprehensive response.
 Assisting World Vision Ethiopia senior program manager in establishing, functioning, monitoring
and evaluation of the community based integrated humanitarian relief, advocacy and
development programs and support network activities

 Assisting program staffs in operational activities such as strategic designing, planning,
implementation, monitoring, evaluation and development of organizational rules and
procedures as well as partner membership service delivery
 Assisting the senior program manager maintaining databases and contact addresses of the
partner organizations (governmental, non-governmental and other informal local
organizations) for effective social network development
 Monitoring the activity plan implementation of sponsorship and development projects

Mitigation development programs that affect the lives of children in the ADP areas in line with
the new WVE’s directions.
 Support the ADP in the implementation of integrated development activities towards the
attainment of transformational development.
 Develop data collection checklists and conduct the data collection; Conduct the household
survey and PRA and Validation of collected information
 As team leader, coordinated and carried out five programs’ feasibility and need assessment as
well as baseline survey prior to program design. Eventually, prepared their five years’ design
documents for the five program areas under Nekemte Program Office.
5) Job Title: Cash Grant and Relief and Agricultural Facilitator/Expert (World Vision Int.
/Ethiopia) Period: (November 2003 to November 2006)
Place of work: Hmbo and Shone Area Development Program (ADP) Southern Region
Major Responsibilities
 Technically facilitated Agricultural and Emergency Response related activities of the project.
 Guiding, coordinating and carrying out anthropometrical data collection, data coding and its
analysis using EPI Info Microsoft dos and window program and reporting of anthropometrics so
as to monitor the food security situation of the program area and to analyse the impact of
relief aid projects after its implementation at grass root level in southern regional state.
 Carrying out local level crop and livestock assessment and marketing situation of the program
area twice per annum in relation to early warning and disaster prevention mechanism in
southern regional state.
 Prepared and presented regular activity accomplishment reports as required.
 Provided technical advice for the project manager.
 Managed USAID funded Cash Grant and Relief Program.
 Design ways of building the capacities of stakeholders engaged in agricultural and
environment development.
 Define and facilitate the establishment of proper and functional community networks for the
agricultural development.
 Facilitate and support the ADP to prepare plans and programs that improve soil conservation,
afforestation and the environment development as a whole.
 Facilitate and support the ADP to prepare plans and programs that improve livestock health
services.
