sutherland formed Indian Sanitation Commision . she
believed that the heath situations have detoriated due
to poor water supply , drainage , sanitation .

• Florence fought this back with scrubbing every inch of the facility , regular
bathing , freash linen , ventilation and a proper sewage , practicing hand hygine
as frequently as posible .
• In one of her notes she quotes “ in days to come people will know that the best
remedies to constrict the spreed of infection is just scrubbing of hands and
surfaces as frequenlty as posible”.

psychological sides of patient care , she helped the slodires
to write letters at their homes .
• She desgined special hospital maps that contained seprate
sanitazation rooms or spaces for the health care workers who
came in contact with the infected patients
• she quotes in her letters on hospital “ every hospital should
have a seprate washing and scrubbing area for the health
workers , so that they do not carry the infection home and
also that they minimise the infection between paients “

nightiangle and her group attended the soldires personally ,
they wrote down lettrs to the family members of the soilders .
 she took time to speak to the soliders and the soilders
eagerly waited to see the lady .
she visited the wards in personal , and thus came to be kown
as the “ Lady with the Lamp “.
 she took special care that they were provided with easy
digestible food .

that most of the epidemics that spreed were due to
unsafe water .
• In her notes for health she states “ well water is the
most unsafe water of its kind and when any epidemic
arises it shows itself , persons using such water are
almost sure to suffer

• Effective drainage was one of the major focuses of the
theory since she believed that improper waste disposal
of domestic waste proves as a breeding ground for
many harmfull bacteris .
