This document provides a summary of seven ways to please God based on passages from the Bible. It discusses having faith in God, being spiritually minded, fearing the Lord, following Jesus Christ's example, obeying the Lord, doing God's will, and giving sacrifices that God wants. It explores these concepts through various scripture citations and encourages focusing on pleasing God rather than people. The overarching message is that pleasing God involves having faith, following His teachings, and obeying His commands out of love for Him.

rewarder of those who diligently seek
Him.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
23. Enoch not only believed in the Creator
God, he believed God would come to
Earth with โten thousands of His saints,
to execute judgmentโ (Jude 1:14-15) and
make everything right.
24. Jude 1:14TLB
14 Enoch, who lived seven generations
after Adam, knew about these men and
said this about them: โSee, the Lord is
coming with millions of His holy ones.
25. 15 He will bring the people of the world
before Him in judgment, to receive just

things they have done in rebellion
against God, revealing all they have said
against Him.โ (Every dirty word they

Seven ways to please God
28. Romans 8:6-8 NKJV
6 For to be carnally minded is death, but
to be spiritually minded is life and
peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is
enmity against God; for it is not subject
to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So
then, those who are in the flesh cannot
please God.
29. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the
Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells
in you. Now if anyone does not have the
Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
Romans 8:9 NKJV
30. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of
God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did
not receive the spirit of bondage again to
fear, but you received the Spirit of
adoption by whom we cry out, โAbba,
Father.โ
Romans 8:14-15 NKJV
31. Romans 8:16-17 NKJV
16The Spirit Himself bears witness with
our spirit that we are children of
God, 17 and if children, then heirsโheirs
of God and joint heirs with Christ, if
indeed we suffer with Him, that we may
also be glorified together.
32. Does being spiritually minded please
God?Yes! Certainly! But one cannot be
spiritually minded without the Spirit of
God dwelling in her/him. Jesus said there
is โjoy in heaven over one sinner who
repentsโ (Luke 15:7). God loves to add to
His family.
33. 1) Having faith pleases God.
2) Being spiritually minded pleases God.
3) Having the fear of the Lord pleases God.
4) Following Jesus Christโs example pleases
God.

them, โfor God has come in this way to
test you, and so that your fear of Him will
keep you from sinning!โ

35. 1) Having faith pleases God.
2) Being spiritually minded pleases God.
3) Having the fear of the Lord pleases God.
4) Following Jesus Christโs example pleases
God.
5) Obeying the Lord pleases God.
6) Doing His will pleases God.
7) Giving the sacrifice He wants pleases God.
Seven ways to please God
36. โThis is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.
Hear Him!โ (Matthew 17:5).
During the transfiguration, God impressed on Peter,
James and John the preeminence of Jesus Christ.
Jesus truly is the Son of God, and there is no one
who has pleased God more!
37. We should all hear Him and follow His example.
Jesus said He always did โthose things that please
the Fatherโ (John 8:29).
We should study the four Gospels to learn how we,
too, can please God.
38. 1) Having faith pleases God.
39. โBehold, to obey is better than sacrificeโ (1
Samuel 15:22). In this passage, the prophet
Samuel expressed Godโs displeasure with
Israelโs first king Saul. Saul had disobeyed
Godโs direct command with the excuse that
โthe peopleโ had wanted to give what should
have been destroyed. But God doesnโt want
our physical gifts if we are going to break His
laws to give them!
40. Again, God doesnโt command us to obey just
because it is good for Him, but because it is
good for us (Deuteronomy 10:13). His laws
and commands are beneficial; and as a result
of obeying Him, we grow in godly, righteous
characterโwe become more like Him! This is
how to please God. The fact that obeying
God is pleasing to Him is expressed in
various ways throughout the Bible.
41. In 1 Chronicles 29:17 God has โpleasure in our
uprightnessโ. In Isaiah 56:4 He will bless
those who โkeep My Sabbaths and choose
what pleases Meโ; and in 1 Thessalonians
4:1-3 those who โabstain from sexual
immoralityโ and avoid breaking any of Godโs
commandments, please God.
42. 1) Having faith pleases God.
43. If we want to learn how to please God,
we must seek Godโs help to always do His
will as well.
44. Hebrews 13:21 NLT
21 may He equip you with all you need
for doing His will.
May He produce in you,
through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to Him.
All glory to Him forever and ever!
Amen.
45. Jesus did Godโs will when He faced the
terrible scourging and crucifixion for our sins,
yet prayed, โNevertheless not My will, but
Yours, be doneโ (Luke 22:42). He was willing
to give Himself totally to show His love and
to do His Fatherโs will. If we want to learn
how to please God, we must seek Godโs help
to always do His will as well.
46. 1) Having faith pleases God.
47. Hebrews 13:15-16 NKJV
15 Therefore by Him let us continually
offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that
is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to
His name. 16 But do not forget to do good
and to share, for with such sacrifices God
is well pleased.
48. We saw earlier that God rejected sacrifices
that were gained through disobedience. But
there are sacrifices that He is โwell pleasedโ
with, including giving praise and thanks to
Him and sharing with others.
49. These reflect His teaching on love expressed in
the two great commandments that summarize
the rest of His law:
โโYou shall love the LORD your God with all your
heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.โ
This is the first and great commandment. And
the second is like it: โYou shall love your neighbor
as yourself.โ On these two commandments hang
all the Law and Prophetsโ (Matthew 22:37-40).
50. Pleasing God, not man:
Itโs a natural human tendency to seek to
please other peopleโthose we can see.
We can find it harder to focus on pleasing
Godโthe One we cannot see.
51. Jesus pointed out the problem with seeking to
please man while pretending to try to please
God. In the Sermon on the Mount He said, โTake
heed that you do not do your charitable deeds
before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you
have no reward from your Father in heavenโ
(Matthew 6:1). He made similar comments about
praying and fasting to gain favor from men
(verses 5 and 16).
52. Instead, we should do these things
privately, โand your Father who sees in
secret will Himself reward you openlyโ
(verse 4).
53. The apostle Paul uses an interesting
term to describe doing things just to be
seen by others: eyeservice.
โBondservants, obey in all things your
masters according to the flesh, not with
eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in
sincerity of heart, fearing Godโ
(Colossians 3:22).
54. Paul himself understood the importance
of pleasing God, not man.
In 1 Thessalonians 2:4 Paul says - โBut as
we have been approved by God to be
entrusted with the Gospel, even so we
speak, not as pleasing men, but God Who
tests our heartsโ.
55. God is the ultimate source of all the good
things we have received, even those
things that come through family, friends
and other people. 1 John 3:1 says - He
has given us all our blessings, and life
itself. And He offers us eternal life as His
children. He deserves all our honor and
worship.
56. As King David wrote in Psalm 145:2-3 -
โEvery day I will blessYou, and I will
praiseYour name forever and ever. Great
is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
and His greatness is unsearchable -
beyond our understanding.โ
57. 1) Having faith pleases God.
58. The Bible clearly labels things that
displease God and hurt us.The main
label it uses is sin. Since we all have
sinned (Romans 3:23), we all have
displeased God.
59. 1 John 1:6-7 NLT
6 So we are lying if we say we have fellowship
with God but go on living in spiritual
darkness; we are not practicing the
truth. 7 But if we are living in the light, as God
is in the light, then we have fellowship with
each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son,
cleanses us from all sin.
60. 8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only
fooling ourselves and not living in the
truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to Him,
He is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins and to cleanse us from all
wickedness.
1 John 1:8-9 NLT
61. No matter how much we give God, we can
never come close to scratching the surface
of what He has done for usโmuch less what
He wants to do for us. In this life He offers
awesome benefits, such as this general
principle: โWhen a manโs ways please the
LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at
peace with himโ (Proverbs 16:7).
62. Still, in this life Christians will face
persecution and tribulation, but as Jesus
Christ said in John 16:33, โThese things I
have spoken to you, that in Me you may
have peace. In the world you will have
tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have
overcome the world.โ
63. And in the future, Jesus has an incredible
gift in store for His faithful flock: Luke
12:32 - โDo not fear, little flock, for it is
your Fatherโs good pleasure to give you
the kingdom.โ One of the most exciting
descriptions of the utopian Kingdom of
God was recorded by King David, a man
after Godโs own heart, in Psalm 16.
64. Psalm 16:11 NKJV
11 You will show me the path of life;
InYour presence is fullness of joy;
AtYour right hand are pleasures
forevermore.
65. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
John 3:16-17 NKJV
16 โFor God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His
Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the
world through Him might be saved.โ
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, โI am the way, the truth, and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through Me.โ
66. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23a NKJV
23a For the wages of sin is death,
โข Death in this life (the first death) is 100%.
โข Even Jesus, the only one who doesnโt deserve death, died in this
life to pay the penalty for our sin.
โข The death referred to in Romans 6:23a is the โsecond deathโ
explained in Revelation 21:8.
67. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
Revelation 21:8 NKJV
8 โBut the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually
immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the
lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.โ
โข Anyone whoโs lifestyle is one or more of the sins listed in Revelation
21:8, will experience the โsecond death,โ if they do not repent.
โข To Repent means to turn around, to go in the opposite direction, to turn
away from sin and believe in Jesus.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
68. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
Romans 6:23b NKJV
23b but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
Revelation 21:7 NKJV
7 โHe who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will
be his God and he shall be My son.โ
โข In Romans 10:9-10 itโs explained to us how to be
overcomers.
69. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation.
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For โwhoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.โ
