2. NARRATIVE NEWS
 A narrative is a story that has a
beginning, middle and end. It
engages the reader’s mind and
heart.
 It shows actors moving across
its stage, revealing their
characters through their actions
and their speech.
 A narrative contains a mystery
or a question—something that
compels the reader to keep
reading and find out what
happens. Newspaper narratives
are also entirely true and factual
in every detail.
 News is newly received or
noteworthy information,
especially about recent events.
 News are often written after the
events they cover, providing the
reader with more information
about a particular aspect of the
event, or giving them an insight
on the issue from a different
perspective or viewpoint.
 News pieces tend to relay
factual information on events or
activities that have just
happened, and do so as quickly
as possible.

3.  A narrative, on the other hand,
lets the story unfold through
character, scene and action—
usually without summing up the
story and telling readers what
it’s about.
 In a narrative, the writer
withholds how the story turns
out and instead goes back to the
beginning.
 Characters are real and
imaginary.
 News pieces aim to convey
information quickly. There are
therefore usually quite short and
direct, although they do not
have to be.
