Staying Resilient
Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness (CSF2) is designed to build
resilience and enhance performance of the Army Family. CSF2 does
this by providing training and self-development tools so that members
of the Army Family are better able to cope with adversity, perform
better in stressful situations, and thrive in life. This helps Soldiers
maximize their potential and face the physical and psychological
challenges of sustained operations.
The primary means for training CSF2 is through certified Master
Resiliency Trainers (MRT). This month’s resiliency training focused on
the skill of assertive communication. This skill helps solve problems in a
clear and controlled manner in order to build relationships.
In the upcoming weeks, the Soldiers of Delta Battery will continue to
build resiliency skills. Each skill builds on different aspects of resiliency
in order to help Soldiers learn to bounce back from adversity and
support the Army Total Fitness Program.

Battery Flag Program
During the month of May, Delta Battery was the first in
Battalion to spearhead the creation of a Battery Flag Program.
For all Soldiers, the flag of the United States of America is the
prime symbol that represents their time spent in service to
their country. As a PATRIOT Air and Missile Defense Battery,
the PATRIOT launcher is a key symbol of the Battery’s
capabilities to protect and defend.
Delta Battery has started flying US flags on PATRIOT launching
stations that are currently operating and executing the
Battery’s real-world mission. This program will continue
throughout the deployment to enable Soldiers to utilize these
flags as gifts of appreciation to outgoing leaders, friends or
family of the Battery, distinguished visitors, or to organizations
that support and enhance the unit. Flags given are
accompanied with a certificate of authenticity signed by the
Battery’s command team.
The first US flag to fly over our PATSITE in UAE was raised on
our PAC-3 Launching Station and soared for 72-hours
throughout the execution of real-world operations. It was
presented by LTC Pedro Camacho, on behalf of Delta Battery,
to COL Janice Chen, the outgoing 31st
ADA BDE Commander,
who conducted a change of command with COL Lisa Bartel on
23MAY18. The ‘Death Dealer’ Soldiers wish COL Chen good luck
and best wishes and welcome COL Bartel to the team!

matters.”

Here is how you can donate:
Please consider donating to AER. It’s easy! All you have to do is go to
https://www.aerhq.org/Donate! Help a Soldier in need and choose AER!
PFC Schofield is the largest single contributor from
Delta Battery for the FY18 AER Campaign.
Delta Battery participated in the Army’s annual Army Emergency Relief
(AER) campaign this past month. The purpose of the AER campaign is to
enable Soldiers to help other Soldiers through voluntary donation. This
campaign is ran on the basis of providing financial aid to Soldiers and their
families who need it in times of hardship. There are a wide variety of reasons
Soldiers can request a direct grant or an interest free loan from the AER fund.
Reasons to request assistance may include, but are not limited to:
• Food, rent, or utilities
• Emergency transportation and vehicle repair
• Funeral expenses
• Medical/dental expenses
• Personal needs when pay is delayed or stolen
During this year’s AER campaign, Delta Battery Soldiers contributed over
$2288! Our Battery also had the largest single contributor in the Battalion, PFC
Schofield. He donated $100 a month for the next seven months for a total
contribution of $700. All funds that are donated help our fellow Soldiers in
need as AER provides the opportunity to help Soldiers financially through
difficult times. No matter how big or small the contribution is, every little bit
matters.

Battalion Ceremony:
Uncasing of the Colors
The Lethal Strike Battalion conducted its Transition of
Authority (TOA) Ceremony with the Panther Battalion, 1-7 ADA
BN, on 28APR18. The change of command ceremony is a formal
passing of responsibility, authority, and accountability from one
commander to another. The TOA is represented through the
ceremonial uncasing of the colors, a tradition that has been
continued on since before the American Civil War. This
ceremonial representation shows that Soldiers will recognize
and follow their colors as they are deployed. An official
ceremony was adopted by the Army in 1921.
This transfer of authority is conducted at all levels of a unit
and signifies the unit’s ability to assume responsibility for the
CENTCOM mission. The efforts of the unit will contribute to the
overall protection of critical assets and allies throughout
CENTCOM. The Battery is a major contributor to the AOR’s
freedom of action and is relied on as a strategic asset.
Delta Battery continues to show pride, discipline, esprit de
corps, and teamwork. The Battery is dedicated to not only
preserving tradition but adding another chapter to the unit’s
history. The ‘Death Dealers’ continue to be successful in their
assigned mission due to the hard work and dedication of the
Soldiers and because of the constant care and support from
their friends and family.

‘Death Dealer’ Family and Friends,
I'm proud to say that we have finally got our 3rd crew certified to start pulling mission. Our
Soldiers overcame the odds of having limited training opportunities to achieve this
accomplishment, which speaks highly to their dedication to the mission and overall success of
the battery. Resiliency is the key to a successful deployment and our family and friends back
home are the foundation. Without all of your support, it would be a lot harder to focus on the
mission. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing by your Soldier.
