Section I: General Information
About NMC
National Medical Commission was established by an Act of Parliament, NMC Act 2019. It is an Act to
provide for a medical education system that improves access to quality and affordable medical education,
ensures the availability of adequate and high-quality medical professionals in all parts of the country, that
promotes equitable and universal healthcare that encourages community health perspective and makes
services of medical professionals access to all the citizens; that promotes national health goals; that
encourages medical professionals to adopt latest medical research in their work and to contribute to
research; that has an objective periodic and transparent assessment of medical institutions and facilitates
maintenance of a medical register for India and enforces high ethical standards in all aspects of medical
services; that is flexible to adapt to changing needs and has an effective grievance redressal mechanism
and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
About National Exit Test
The objective of the National Exit Test is to bring uniformity in the summative evaluation across the
country with reference to the minimum common standards of education and training of a medical
graduate.
The National Exit Test (NExT) is a uniform national examination for (i) Certifying the eligibility of the
medical graduate to register to practice modem system of medicine in India and therefore serve as a
Licentiate Examination, (ii) to determine the eligibility and ranking for admission of those desirous of
pursuing further Postgraduate Medical Education in the country in broad medical specialties and
therefore serve as an entrance Examination admission to the postgraduate broad-speciality medical
education in medical institutions which are governed under the provisions of this Act or under any other
law for the time being in the force.
The National Exit Test is a two-part Examination: Step I and Step II. NExT-Step I will be a Computer Based
Test (CBT).
Scope of the Prospectus
This prospectus relates only to the Mock/Practice Test for the purpose of familiarizing the prospective
candidates with the Computer Based Test (CBT), software interface and process flow in the examination
center. The sample questions in the Mock/Practice will only exemplify the pattern and format of the NExT-
Step 1 examination. Still, they may not represent the complete NExT-Step I examination/syllabus
coverage.
This prospectus consists of information regarding the eligibility criteria for appearing in the examination,
the application process, application fee, scheme of examination, conduct of examination and declaration
of results of the Mock/Practice Test. The candidates are advised to regularly visit the websites
www.next.aiimsexams.ac.in and www.nmc.org.in for recent updates. Information related to the schedule
and conduct of NExT Step I and Step II is NOT covered by this Prospectus and shall be informed in due

Section II: Administration of Mock/Practice Test
In exercising its power driven from Chapter IV of the NMC Act, 2019, the National Medical Commission
(NMC) has entrusted AII India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, as the designated authority for all
operational components of National Exit Text Step I and Mock/Practice Test conduct. Mock/Practice Test
and NExT Step I will be administered by the Examination Section, AIIMS New Delhi, in consultation with
NMC. AIIMS, New Delhi, is the sole authority for the conduct of all aspects related to Mock/Practice Tests
such as application, conduct of exam and declaration of scores. All disputes with regard to any matter
referred to herein shall be subjected to the jurisdiction of Delhi Courts only.
Section III: Overall Process of Mock/Practice Test
To be able to take the Mock/Practice Test, the following sequential phases are to be completed
Phase I: Process of Application (see Section VI for details)
Phase II: Examination (see Section VII for details)
Key Points
1. The schedule of various activities Mock/Practice is mentioned under Important Dates at the end
of this document and accessible through the Important Dates Tab at the online portal.
2. It is advisable to read this prospectus completely and carefully.
3. The applicants should ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for taking the
Mock/Practice Test (see Section IV)
4. Applicants must fill in the information in the application with due diligence (see Section VI). It may
not be possible to change certain information after payment of the application fee and submission
of the application form. The information submitted here may be used during the application
process of NExT-Step I and Step II.
5. Correspondence with the Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi, for matters related to

The following are eligible to take the Mock/Practice Test:
1. Final Year students pursuing MBBS courses in Medical Colleges/Institutes in India.

Section V: Application Fee
The application fee is to be paid at the time of application for the Mock/Practice Test, 2023, through a
digital model only. The application fees are mentioned in the table below:

Note:
1. The applicant can pay the prescribed application fee through DEBIT CARD/ CREDIT CARD/
NETBANKING.
2. Transaction/Processing fee, if any, as applicable, will be payable to the respective bank etc., by
the applicant.
3. Application fees, once submitted, shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
4. If, for any reason, the application fee is paid more than once against one application form, the
additional payments shall be refunded to applicants after verification & completion of the
examination process.
5. Applications without the prescribed fee shall not be accepted and summarily rejected.
Section VI: Process of Application
All information and access to the application process related to the Mock/Practice Test will be done
through its online portal. The portal for Mock/Practice can be accessed from www.next.aiimsexams.ac.in.
The applicants are requested to visit the site frequently to update themselves with the latest information.
The access and different components of the application process will be enabled/disabled as per the dates
specified in the Important Dates Tab.
The application process consists of three sequential stages (See flow chart). For a detailed schedule, kindly
see the Important Dates Tab.

Stage 2. Generation of Exam Unique Code (EUC) for application for Mock/Practice, 2023.

A. Stage I: Registration & Basic Candidate Information
Registration & Basic Candidate Information is a one-time process to be done by applicants for appearing
in Mock/Practice and NExT. It consists of the applicant’s initial registration with the IT system to generate
the Registration ID and Password. The applicant must complete the Registration & Basic Candidate
Information with necessary personal information and upload images (photo, sign, left thumb impression).
The Registration & Basic Candidate Information is confirmed or rejected based on the quality and format
of images uploaded by applicants (Kindly see the “How to upload images” Tab for details). It is necessary
to have a valid and confirmed Registration & Basic Candidate Information to proceed with the Generation
of the Exam Unique Code (EUC) and subsequent Completion of the Application for the Mock/Practice Test
(kindly see the Important Dates Tab for a detailed schedule).

Note:
1. Applicants must fill in the information in the application with due diligence. It may not be possible

2. Instructions for preparation and uploading images of photo, signature, and left thumb impression
can be accessed through the How to upload images Tab on the page for Registration & Basic
Candidate Information. Applicants are requested to carefully read and follow instructions to avoid
rejection of Registration.
3. All personal bioinformatics information shared as part of the application process shall be used
only for activities related to NExT. The data may be made available to law enforcement agencies
if required by law or as necessary to complete a testing fraud investigation directly related to the
relevant candidate(s).
B. Stage 2: Generation of Exam Unique Code (EUC) for application for Mock/Practice Test
A valid and confirmed Registration & Basic Candidate Information, including images of photo, signature
and thumb impression) is a pre-requisite for the generation of code. The confirmation of registration shall
be emailed to the applicant and will be visible to the candidate after logging in to the online portal. An
exam code must be generated to indicate the applicant’s desire to apply for the Mock/Practice Test. The
code is specific to each examination instance and must be generated afresh for any instance of
examination in relation to NExT.
C. Stage 3: Completion of Application for Mock/Practice
Before the candidate can proceed with the completion of the Application for Mock/Practice, the candidate
should have
1. A valid and confirmed Registration & Basic Candidate Information, including images of photo,
signature and thumb impression)
2. An Exam Unique Code (EUC) for Mock/Practice
The applicant must ensure that all the steps of the application form are completed on or before the
due date and time (kindly see the Important Dates Tab for a detailed schedule). Applicants must
ensure that their Email IDs and mobile phone numbers given in their online application form are valid
and active.

1. The applicants should ensure they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for taking the Mock/Practice
Test.

Section VII: Examination
The Mock/Practice Test will be held on dates as mentioned in the Important Dates section of this
information brochure or any subsequent notices published on the website. Applicants are required to be
in possession of a printout of Admit Card downloaded from the portal of NExT to be allowed to appear for
the examination. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination centre unless he/she possesses
an Admit Card valid for the Mock/Practice Test.
All requirements mentioned in the Admit Card must be complied with for entry into the examination
center. The admit card must bear the details on the printout, such as IP address, Bar Code, Roll No., Name,
Photograph etc. Candidate must follow the instruction given in Admit Card and other relevant information
that will be published on the NExT Web portal and/or through the candidate dashboard called as
“MyPage”.
Admit Card
The Admit Card for Mock/Practice will be available online only and can be downloaded from the link
available at “MyPage” after logging in using the Registration ID, Password and Exam Unique Code (EUC)
at the Completion of Application Zone for Mock/Practice Test. Admit Cards will be issued only to the
applicants who have completed all the Stages of the Application Form for the Mock/Practice Test
described in Section VI Process of Application and are eligible as per set criteria. Applicants are therefore
requested to follow the instruction carefully as mentioned in this prospectus to avoid rejection of
application for Mock/Practice Test.
The Admit Card will be downloadable according to the schedule mentioned in the Important Dates Tab.
Applicants must note that Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi, do not send Admit Card through email
or post. The applicants must download the Admit Card and carefully check the information related to the
applicant. If the applicant observes any discrepancies or errors, they must bring it to the notice of the
Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi, through the “Raise a Query” section in their online dashboard
(MyPage). Communication from any other mode may not be attended to. While Examination Section,
AIIMS, New Delhi makes all efforts to reply as early as possible, depending upon the number of queries
received and other logistic issues, it may take up to some working days to respond. Kindly note that
discrepancies/errors reported by the applicant shall be matched against the information provided by the
applicant during the course of the application process. The applicants should note that their eligibility to
appear in the examination will be purely provisional based on the information they gave in the Application
Form. This will be subject to verification of all the eligibility conditions. The mere fact that an Admit Card
to the Examination has been issued to an applicant will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally
cleared or that entries made by the candidate in his/her application for Mock/Practice have been accepted
as true and correct.

City and Center for Examination
The decision of AIIMS regarding the allotment of centers shall be final and will not change. No
correspondence from the applications for change of center will be entertained.
Mode and Scheme of Examination
The mock/Practice test will be a computer-based test conducted in a single day through the territories of
India. The scheme of examination is given below:

Rules of Scribe and Compensatory time
The rules for scribe and compensatory time as per the OM of the Department of Empowerment of Persons
with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment dated 29th
August 2018,
corrigendum dated 8th
February, 2019 and OM dated 10th
August 2022.
Eligibility for Scribe and/or compensatory time:
1. The persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) defined under section 2(r) of the RPWD Act, 2016.
A. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities in the categories of blindness, locomotor disability (both
arms affected – BA) and cerebral palsy will be provided with the facility of a scribe if desired by
the person against self-undertaking as per Appendix A Part A-1.
B. The PwBD candidates in the category of blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected-BA)
and cerebral palsy are allowed Compensatory Time of twenty minutes per hour of the
examination if desired by the person against self-undertaking as per Appendix A Part A-1.
C. In the case of other categories of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities as defined under section
2(r) of the RPWD Act, 2016, the facility of scribe / Compensatory time will be allowed to such
applicants on the production of a certificate to the effect that the person concerned has physical
limitation in to write, and scribe is essential to write the examination on his behalf from the Chief
Medical Officer/ Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care institution
as per the prescribed proforma (Appendix A Both part A-1 and A-2).
2. The persons with specified disabilities covered under the definition of section 2(s) of the RPWD
Act, 2016 but not covered under the definition of section 2 (r) of the said Act, i.e. persons having
less than 40% disability and having difficulty in writing.
A. In the case of those with less than Benchmark disabilities as defined under section 2(r) of the
RPWD Act, 2016, the facility of scribe and or / Compensatory time shall be granted solely to those
having difficulty in writing subject to the production of a certificate to the effect that the person
concerned has physical limitation to write and that scribe is essential to write examination om
his/her behalf from the competent medical authority of a Government Health Care institution as
per prescribed proforma ( Appendix A Both part A1 and A-3).
Note : -
1. All required certificates must be submitted within due dates as specified in the Important Dates
section of this document, failing which no facilities will be provided on the day of examination.
2. The applicants have the discretion of opting for his/her scribe or requesting the Examination
Section for the same and should indicate their choice at the time of Completion of the Application
for the Test.
3. In case the applicant opts for his/her own scribe, then additional information related to the scribe
will be sought from the applicant before the examination. The qualification of the scribe provided
by the Examination Section and own scribe will be one step below the minimum qualification
criteria of the Test (i.e. one step below MBBS/ equivalent medical degree). However, the
qualification of the scribe will always be matriculated or above. If the applicant has opted for
his/her own scribe and does not bring own scribe on the day of the examination, then it will not
be possible for AIIMS to arrange a new scribe.

4. If the applicant has opted for his/her own scribe, the Remuneration/Honorarium/TA will be the
applicant’s sole responsibility.
5. The Scribe can render only assistance to the candidate, i.e., reading instructions, test paper and
mouse clicks, if the candidate is not able to do so. Explanation/Interpretation of question paper
is strictly prohibited and may result in cancellation of the candidature.
6. All persons eligible for scribe and/or compensatory as described above shall be provided
compensatory time of not less than 20 minutes per hour of examination. In case the examination
is less than an hour, the duration of compensatory time should be allowed on a pro-rata basis.
Compensatory time should not be less than 5 minutes and should be in multiple of 5.

Section VIII: Correspondence with Examination Section, AIIMS, New
Delhi
All the processes related to the Mock/Practice Test of NExT will be administered through its portal
accessible through www.next.aiimsexams.ac.in . All notices and information related to the conduct of
Mock/Practice shall be regularly updated on this website. Applicants must regularly visit the website for
general information and log in using their Registration ID, Password and Code in the portal to obtain
applicant-specific information such as the status of application, Admit Card, etc. In instances where in an
applicant is required to communicate with the Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi, for the resolution
of queries, the applicant should use one of the following methods only:
1. Through the “Raise a Query” section in their online dashboard (MyPage). Communication from
any other mode may not be attended to. While Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi makes all
efforts to reply as early as possible, depending upon the number of queries received and other
logistic issues, it may take up to some working days to respond.
2. Telephone to toll-free number 1800117898 (Monday to Friday: 10.00 am to 05.00 pm, Saturday:
10.00 am to 01.00 pm, excluding National Holidays).
Section IX: Legal and disciplinary action
Legal and disciplinary action will be initiated by AIIMS, New Delhi, against persons who are found to be
guilty of misconduct for reasons mentioned below (including but not limited to)
1. Obtaining support for his/her candidature by the following means, namely: —offering illegal
gratification to; or applying pressure on; or blackmailing, or threatening to blackmail any person
connected with the conduct of the examination; or
2. impersonation; or
3. procuring impersonation by any person; or
4. submitting fabricated documents or documents which have been tampered with; or
5. providing false information regarding educational qualifications and/or experience (such as
internship completion) for the sole purpose of appearing in the examination for practice or any
other purposes; or
6. uploading irrelevant photos in the application form in place of actual photo/signature/left thumb
impression; or
7. uploading morphed/digitally modified photos for impersonation; or
8. making statements which are incorrect or false or suppressing material information; or
9. resorting to the following means in connection with his candidature for the examination, namely:
attempt to obtain examination material/questions through any means; attempt to find out the
particulars of persons or attempt to establish communication for this purpose with persons
connected with confidential work relating to the examination; attempt to influence the personnel
involved with the conduct of examination; or
10. knowingly enrolled in, participated in, or used any material that has been obtained by
unauthorised means, including reconstruction from memory of actual question, used in any

examination held as part of NExT (including Mock/Practice), or provides a forum for others to
share such information; or
11. being in possession of study materials, notes, papers or electronic devices (cell phones, etc.) at
the time of examination or attempt to bring them into secure areas of the test center; or
12. discuss your exam with others at the center or otherwise communicate about test items, cases,
and/or answers; or
13. communicating or attempting to communicate (including online and via social media) about
specific test items, cases, and/or answers with another examinee, potential examinee, or formal
or informal test preparation group at any time during, before or after the conduct of examination;
or
14. copying the questions, misbehaving in the examination hall, including tearing the scripts,
provoking fellow examinees to boycott/disrupt examination, creating a disorderly scene and the
like; or
15. any unauthorized reproduction by any means, including, but not limited to, reconstruction
through memorization, singularly or collectively, and/or dissemination of copyrighted
examination questions by any means, including internet, irrespective of commercial or non-
commercial value such an act; or
16. harassing or doing bodily harm to the staff deputed by the Examination Section, Staff employed
by the Service Providers for the examination.
17. being in possession of or using any mobile phone (even in switched off mode), pager or any
electronic equipment or programmable device or storage media like pen drive, smart watches
etc. or camera or Bluetooth devices or any other equipment or related accessories either in
working or switched off mode capable of being used as a communication device during the
examination; or
18. altering or misrepresenting examination results; or
19. violating any of the instructions issued to candidates along with their admission certificates
permitting them to take the examination; or
20. attempting to commit or, as the case may be, abetting the commission of all or any of the acts
specified in the foregoing clauses; may in addition to rendering himself liable to criminal
prosecution, be liable: —
a) and shall be disqualified by the AIIMS/NMC, New Delhi from this/or other Examinations for
which he/she is a candidate; and/or
b) Shall be liable to be debarred either permanently or for a specified period: —
a. Any examination or selection held by AIIMS/NMC;
b. barring/revocation of medical registration for a specified period ranging from 1 – 5
years.
b. any other penalty as per the discretion of the competent authority
c) if he/she is already in service under Government to disciplinary action under the appropriate
rules.

Provided that no penalty under this section shall be imposed except after: —
i) giving the candidate an opportunity of making such representation in writing as he/she may
wish to make on that behalf; and
ii) taking the representation, if any, submitted by the candidate within the period allowed to
him into consideration. Any person who is found by the AIIMS, New Delhi to be guilty of
colluding with a candidate (s) in committing or abetting the commission of any of the
misdeeds listed at Clauses 1 to 19 above renders himself liable to action in terms of the Clause
20.
Legal Jurisdiction Any dispute regarding any matter referred to herein shall be subject to the
jurisdiction of Delhi Courts alone.
3rd Party Preparation Courses & Materials
Any attempt by any test preparation service or program to use, disclose, distribute, or solicit examination
questions from recent test takers or to other provide access to questions or answers from actual questions
used in the examination held as part of NExT (including Mock/Practice) shall be considered an attempt to
obtain copyrighted material.
Section X: Disclaimer
Mock/Practice Test is being held under the instruction of NMC for the sole purpose of familiarizing the
prospective candidates with the Computer Based Test (CBT), software interface, and process flow in the
examination center. The sample questions in the Mock/Practice will only exemplify the pattern, format
and content of the NExT-Step I examination. Still, they may not represent the complete NExT-Step I
examination/syllabus coverage.
AIIMS, New Delhi, is solely responsible for the conduct of NExT-Step I and Mock/Practice Test. AIIMS, New
Delhi, is responsible only for the conduct of the NExT-Step I and Mock/Practice Test as per the
instructions/guidelines provided by NMC. The NMC is solely responsible for all policy matters related to
NExT.
Important Note: - Complete details of NExT examination will be notified separately through regulation
in due course. Such regulation, once notified, will supersede anything contained in this information
brochure/prospectus.
