EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
2008-14 Fisheries Observer
Employed to work on board commercial vessels and make independent,
unbiased observations of fishing operations and report this information to DFO.
Responsible for the collection of biological samples, tagging of fish and recording
the size of all species caught in a fishing operation.
2004-08 Residential Support Worker
Worked with individuals in their day to day lives to support them in the least
restrictive way as possible.
2004 Carpenter Apprentice
Worked with the town council in Port Edward to improve residential properties
who qualified for external repairs under a program provided by Human resources
Canada.
2002-2003 Coal sampler
Worked with Certispec Services Inc., collecting coal samples and all other duties
involved with coal operations at Ridley Island.
2000-2003 Fish Technician
Worked as the lead hand for the Community Fisheries Development Center
juvenile Coho survey. This job involved all aspects of a salmon mark recovery
program, Data collection, scale samples, DNA samples, weights and
measurements. Also looking after crews and paper work.
1994-2000 Chemical Tester/ Relief operator
Worked with Skeena Cellulose Inc. to produce and test Chlorine dioxide
1993-94 Line Worker
Provided the labour to unload, process, move, pack and handle seafood products
associated with a fish plant.
1990-92 Development Officer. Dept. of Tourism and Culture
Worked with Atlantic Canadian Opportunities agency and Enterprise
Newfoundland and Labrador in making funding decisions based on criteria,
regulations and tourism potential for local tourist developers.
2. 1990-92 Executive Director Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of
Students.
Organized student councils to become autonomous. Collected fees, assisted in
research, organized conferences and executive meetings, and performed
general office duties.

2008 At Sea Observer Program
Completed three week course set up by DFO. It covered all aspects of species
identification, catch monitoring, biological sampling, and catch monitoring, Data
collection, vessel and fishing operations, fisheries management, acts and
regulations.
