is an infectious disease caused by
severe acute respiratory syndrome
(SARS).
This disease was first identified in 2019
in ‘WUHAN’ the capital of Hubei in
central china, and has since spread
globally, resulting 2019-20 coronavirus
pandemic.

15. CAUSE
The disease is caused by the virus severe acute
respiratory syndrome, previously referred to as the
NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (2019-nCOV).
it is primarily spread between people via respiratory
droplets from coughs , sneeze. The lungs are the
organs most affected by COVID-19 because the
virus accesses host cells via the enzyme ACE2
which is the most abundant in the type II alveolar
cells of the lungs. The virus uses a special surface
glycoprotein called spike to connect to ACE2 in
each tissue correlates with the severity of the
disease.

17. PREVENTION
As there is no vaccine against COVID-19 so
‘prevention is better than cure'.
o Stay at home , avoid travel and public activities
o Wash hands with soap and warm water often and
for at least 20 sec.
o Maintain good personal hygiene
o Avoid touching nose, eyes, mouth
o Maintain social distance between two people
minimum 1 meter
o Use mask
o Use alcohol based sanitizer etc

18. TREATMENT
Nothing has been postulated
Hospitalization only for severe cases
Supportive treatment :-
Maintain airway , breathing , circulation (ABC)
Ventilation if required (if PO2<55%)
Isolation to prevent spreads
Correction of electrolyte imbalances
Correct temperature
