India is know for her handicraft products since time
immemorialand has been an important source of the foreign
exchange ,employment generation and economic growth.
Handicraft industry spreads throughout the Indian. It is the
second largest employment generating industryafter
agriculture sectors .It has important in the economy of India.
This industryscattered nearly all states of the country ,which
have their own culture & tradition. Handicraft product are one
of the important medium to throw which the traditional
culture is alive .It has important role in preserving the design
,arts ,variety, style and uniqueness of the handicraft product
.Nevertheless, handicraft products are not popular as
compared to the other machine made product.
Marketing is the societal process by which individual and
group obtain what they need and want through creating
,offering, freely exchanging products and services of value
with other.(Philip kilter). To making right decision is very tough
job for marketingfield without market research ,which
decided which types of new products must be develop ,at
what price ,where to sell thaw much money spend on
advertisement ,and through internet. Internet marketing is
one of the important medium through firm can provide all
information regarding firmsand their products.
6. The role of internet marketingis very important for every
industry .The large industryhave their own formal marketing
network ,sale force & media campaigns but those industry
which are unorganized, they lack this kind of medium to
marketing.Internet marketingplay a key role which can make
and break the industry because it give all types of information
regarding price ,qualities ,availabilities, uses etchant motivate
the customer to buy the products. Many well established
company promotes the products through strong marketing
campaigns. He
Dong Young ,Rober Mason & Abhijit Chaudhary(2001) said
that instatement model as compared to the transactional
model of an in information system increase the control over
the process from individual value chain to individuals
,increase the visibility ,enable more independent information
production & use facilitate the emergence of the online

produce is maximumin the area, which gave numerous
varieties , but due Lack of technical and market knowledge ,
this sector is far away from the main competition . they have
7. Also lack of internet marketingknowledge like quality delivery
,schedule ,and packaging and after sales
Services etc. The internet user’s increase in the rural area
which helps in marketingof the rural products
Through organized retail format is an important concept to
explore the hidden market in the rural sectors. Manjusmita
Dash (2011) depiets that the performanceof institutional
infrastructurefor both financing & marketing of handicraft is
far from satisfaction .it is largest employment generation
sector after Agriculture, low per capita investment & highly
involvement of women and weaker section people
& produces the product which is eco- friendly. Therefore,
there is need of modern marketing approaches like internet
marketingbecause it helps to cover huge amount of
population on a single click.
Blerim Kola (2012),states that the web marketing has a
signification impact on the selling of the craft products .The
marketing sector invent new method to provide update
information the different products in which web marketingis
one of them, which help the customer about the product .If
government helps, this industry to promote their products
through this medium it should be a great help for the
development of the successful web marketingprograms.
8. M. Anandaraja and Asokan,(2008), said that Extranet is one of
the hottest technologies .Company wants to generate new
methods for cost saving each stage of value chain and try to
remedy this deficiency . Interview conducted for manager and
mgt. accountant who provided estimated number before and
after implementation of the extranet ,significant cost can be
anticipated due to streamling & automation function.
managing system across multiple organizations must commit
to adopt standard methodologies ;practices throw out the
organization to support utilization of the extranet
environment.
S.Bhattacharjee,(2012), states that E-Business is much less
capital intensive compared to traditional business. Therefore ,
people having good entrepreneurial skill & discipline can
succeed in this sphere. It is not sufficient to display a product
through internet to the global customer.
Vanaja Menon(2012), in her study states that, the demand to
apply quantitative marketing methods is rapidly growing

Art and crafts, as we have already mentioned, has been a
tradition in India since long. Textiles, the most important of
the India handicrafts, reached the zenith of perfection during
the mughal period. While under Mughals, it was the art of
weaving and skilk spinningthat scored refinement: it was
metal works, ivory works and jewelry that reached great
potential during that time can be divided in four broad
categories. The first category dealt with the village economy
under the jajmani system, in which the products were articles
of daily use. The second category was integrated with the
urban areas, where artisans produced crafts mainly for the
purpose of sale. The third category concerns the dandy
system, in which the products were articles of daily use. The
second category was integrated with the urban areas, where
artisan product were articles of daily use. The second category
was integrated with the urban areas, where artisan product
craft mainly for the purpose of sale . The third category
concerns the dandy system in which the merchants advanced
cash to the artisans for production. The final category
includes the karkhanas, where skilled artisans produced
luxury crafts under the command of kings or high nobles
.Handicraft production was the second biggest source of
employment in the pre- British India.
14. History of Indian Handicraft Under
Colonial Rule:
Under the British rule , production of Indian Handcraft faced a
rather sharp decline. When the east India company was in
power , it forced monopoly over the production of artisans
from Bengal ,and the products were fixed 15-40% lower than
their actual market price. What came as the biggest blow to
the Indian princess and nobles, which as an effect, led to the
destruction of the artisans major market.
History of Indian Handicraft Post-
Independence:
The plight of the artisanal and the cultural important of
artisanal production was taken into accord after Indian got
independent .the establishment of all India handicraft board
in November 1952, to look at the problems and find solutions
concerning Indian handicrafts;the handicraft and handloom
export corporation of India Ltd in 1958, to promote
handicrafts export ; opening of crafts museum in 1953 in Delhi

stone unturned for its development.
