our country, such as sole proprietorship

corporation etc. Among them pharmacy
business is operated in our country as a
sole proprietorship business.
Objectives of the study
The specific objectives of the study listed in
the below:
1. To examine the socio-economic
condition of Pharmacy business at
Konabari market, Gazipur 2016.
2. To identify the economic position of
Pharmacy businessman at Konabari
market, Gazipur, 2016.
3. To evaluate the Pharmacy business
problems and suggestions to overcome
the problem.

4. Methodology
• Methodology means the state of order
in which the research planning
activities are conducted is called
research planning methodology. These
may be put in sequence as identification
of problem, monitoring and midway
correcting, and evaluation, publication
of research data and discrimination of
research result.
Area Selection
The survey was undertaken within the
Konabari market which falls under
Gazipur District of Bangladesh. The
following criteria were followed in
selecting the study area:
The availability of Pharmacy
businessman.
Easy Accessibility
Easy communication
Familiar with the market
Prerequisite business area
Predominantly pharmacy business
area

5. Sample Selection
Population
Considering the short time period, 10
pharmacy businessmen were selected
as the population for the study. Then the
survey population was divided into
three categories-The small, medium and
large businessman respectively based
on their investment.
Sample procedure
After collecting all the data, I took one
businessman from each category. That
indicates 3 sample from the population

The primary data were collected from the
study market through the:
Questionnaires with structure

Face to face conversation with each
businessman
Secondary data
The secondary data were collected from
Bangladesh Bureau of statistics (BBS)
Different types of Economic books and
Internet.
Collection of data
• A survey questionnaire was used for
collecting the necessary information
from the sample businessman. MCQ
type of questionnaire was given to them
to fill up. The questionnaire given
covered socio- economic condition of
businessmen, income expenditure,
business expenditure, consumption
data, investment data etc...

7. Limitation of Data
Though the sample size is three which
is very small, all the information was
collected accurately. However, it will not
provide the true reflection of whole
pharmacy businessman.
People are very busy with their
business so they get disturbed to face
different types of questions from
university students like us.
Sometimes they get angry to explain
about their income and expenditure as
it is a part of personal question.
Analysis of data
• As the data of three samples was
collected, the average data was
calculated in case of capital, income,
expenditure, education level, family
size, capital cost, opinion, business
constraints etc. Thus it is compared
with the national level of data and
determined the background of the
businessman and calculated the
percentage of data as well.
Tabular Analysis
• Tabular analysis was used to classify the
data and derived meaningful findings by
employing arithmetic mean, percentage
and ratio through graphical
representation.

• The above survey is a case study of pharmacy business in Konabari market. This study
highlights the socio-economic condition, income and expenditure, saving and investment
of the businessman of Konabari market who are involve in pharmacy business.
• Study pointed out some problem for doing the business and gives some opinion to
remove the problem. The concerned authority should take proper step to fix the problem
for the survival of pharmacy business in this area.
