CENTURY TECHNOLOGY INSIDE THE ROOM
Technology has become an integral part of our life and learning patterns in the
21st century. The internet, blogs and smart phones are some examples of tools that we use to grow in
our knowledge and understanding. Using technology like this in the classroom requires more than
knowing how to use the tool. Teachers need to understand the role of technology in the learning
process, and the principles behind integrating it in a way that it promotes learning without it being a
distraction.
This course teaches concepts and ideas behind using technology in the classroom. It also helps
teachers to understand the various skills that students need to develop in order to use technology in
the most effective way. It equips teachers to help students use technology intelligently and
responsibly [1].
A dramatic shift is sweeping through our schools. The signs are all around us. Third
graders texting on their cell phones. Kindergarteners who can navigate an iPod Touch better than we
can. Middle schoolers who already have an Internet following on their blog or YouTube channel.
These are not the same 21st century learners we came to know over the first decade of the new
millennium. For these students, simply watching videos or images during class, playing an Internet
multiplication game, or even taking turns at an interactive whiteboard is no longer enough.
These new 21st century learners are highly relational and demand quick access to new knowledge.
More than that, they are capable of engaging in learning at a whole new level. With the world literally
at their fingertips, today’s students need teachers and administrators to re-envision the role of
technology in the classroom.[2]
Now here is what this research aims:
1. Educate the public about the effects of technology for the new generation
2. Enhance the understanding about this new innovations
3. Distinguish the positive effects for the other half.
