Letter of Recommendation for Ryan Cox
From: Polly Greist, Instructor of Humanities and Writing
Rogue Community College
Medford, OR

Victor:
Ryan Cox is a cutting edge, divinely inspired musician; a superb writer; an
enchanted genius; and finally, an exceptional human being. It is my great honor to
recommend him for a position with your journal. More than simply recommend, I
would take that extra step and suggest you snap him up before someone else does—
he is that much of a talent. He would be a valuable asset to any company or
enterprise.
In my over 35 years as a college-level professor of writing and humanities – in
multiple college and universities on the West Coast – I have seen it all among the
college students I have worked with. Hands down, Ryan is in my top tier of
memorable students, both for his talent with language and – perhaps more
importantly – his depth and compassion as a human being.
His abilities with words, images and thought are remarkable. He reaches deep
within and forces readers to follow him down whichever path his mind is yearning
to go. He enchants, envisions and captures with his writing. He is willing to go
beyond superficial ideas and comments to the truly meaningful and cosmic.
‘
More importantly, he is a fully developed human being, with understanding and
compassion for others. In all class time, he was alert and respectful, followed closely
and cleverly to all that was going on, and especially noteworthy, he was a mentor
and supporter of his classmates, helping them to whatever extent he could.
Beyond all this, he has a wicked sense of humor, is tuned in to all the dynamics –
open and subtle – going on in the class community: Meaning, he is that one student I
knew I could count on to react immediately and appropriately if any kind of
emergency might happen inside or outside the classroom.
Thus, you will be well rewarded for hiring Ryan. He will not disappoint, and would
be an eager, productive and extremely fun associate.
