Lateral part of broad
ligament of uterus extending
from infundibulum of uterine
tube and upper pole of ovary
to external iliac vessels.

▪ Upper/ Tubal Pole: Related to uterine tube and external iliac vein.
▪ Lower/ Uterine Pole: Related to pelvic floor.
▪ Anterior or Mesovarian Border: Related to uterine tube and obliterated umbilical
artery.
▪ Posterior/ Free Border: Related to uterine tube and ureter.
▪ Lateral Surface: Related to ovarian fossa.
▪ Medial Surface: Covered by uterine tube.

Venous Supply
1. Emerges from hilus and form
pampiniform plexus around artery
which condenses into single ovarian
vein.
2. Vein ascends to left renal vein on left
side and inferior vena cava on right
side.

Drainage
It drains into lateral aortic and
preaortic nodules.

13. Nerve Supply
• Ovarian Plexus- derived from renal, aortic, and
hypogastric plexuses.
• Contains sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves.
• Root nerves- for Sympathetic: T10, T1 (afferent and
efferent vasomotor); and that of Parasympathetic:
S2, S3, S4 (vasodilator).
