Over 75 publications and presentations in the areas of British and American literature; memoir;
employment/professional issues; organizational development; censorship; reading and vocabulary;
readers’ theater; program management and assessment; teaching of culture and cross-cultural issues;
teaching of English for science and technology; testing; teaching methods; and theater history
Educational Materials Published:
Cross-Cultural Workshop: Business (Tokyo: Time-Life/Time T.I. Communications, 1993), a
communicative/interactive text designed to increase the cross-cultural awareness of Japanese
business professionals working overseas, with accompanying teacher’s guide. Commissioned by
Toyota Motor Corporation. Chapter headings are: “Joining”, “Building”, “Managing”, “Respecting”
and “Reaching Out” (with co-author Timothy S. Warren). 52 pages.
Eye to Eye/Ibunka Pocketbook (Tokyo: Time-Life/Time T.I. Communications, 1992), a self- instructional
pocketbook on cross-cultural communication, with accompanying cassette. Text in English and
Japanese. Commissioned by Nippondenso Ltd. Japan. Chapter headings are: “Body Talk”,
“Compliments”, “I’m Special”, “Getting Personal” and “Women at Work”. 80 pages.
Technical English Course: Revised Edition (Tokyo: Time-Life/Time T.I. Communications, 1991), a two-
volume student text, with accompanying teacher’s guide and Japanese-language student guide, for
use in the Japanese automobile industry (Toyota Group Companies). Basic technical English, daily
conversation, and Training Within Industry (TWI) job breakdown sheets are covered. 188 pages.
