Students who do not finish high school face escalating
rates of unemployment, incarceration, and illness.
Gateway to College exists to give these students a
second chance.
All youth, given the right opportunities and support, have
the potential to learn and thrive. But for disconnected
young people who have left school without a diploma,
getting back on track is incredibly difficult without caring
and customized intervention.
Gateway to College reengages out-of-school and off-track
youth with their education, providing the opportunity to
earn their diploma and pathways to college and career.
With your support, we will continue to create life-
changing partnerships among colleges, school districts,
and communities to serve disconnected youth. Join us.
“Gateway to College saved my life.”

Gateway to College National Network creates ground-
breaking partnerships between colleges and local
school districts. For every one dollar invested in
Gateway programming, we are able to leverage $11 in
district funding to support a Gateway student earning
her diploma AND college credit.

2. Help Give Disconnected
Youth a Second Chance
Your gift will help thousands of formerly disconnected
youth across the country—and in your community—
reengage with education, earn their diploma, and gain
a running start in college and career. Join us in this vital
work and help give youth a second chance.
Launched in 2003, Gateway to College has reengaged
and supported more than 20,000 students in more than
250 school districts at 41 partner programs in 21 states.
Today, Gateway to College programs serve
approximately 5,000 adolescents annually from some of
the poorest communities in the country.
“I have seen students enter Gateway with little
hope of completion and very little confidence
in themselves. Then they have success after
success—and this becomes their new normal.
Their understanding shifts from one of defeat to
being worthy of accomplishment.”
