RAE Systems Names New Sales Manager for Mesh and Fixed
Systems
SAN JOSE, CA -- RAE Systems Inc., a developer of gas and radiation
detectors, has announced that Ron Unruh will be joining the company as
Mesh and Fixed Systems sales manager for the Americas.
He brings more than 20 years of experience in the detection and
instrumentation industry to his new role, after working at Tyco-Scott Safety
for 13 years, first as regional sales manager and then as a zone manager for
the Fixed Instrumentation business.
Prior to Tyco-Scott Safety, Unruh worked at Biosystems, Inc. (currently
Honeywell) and at Orr Safety Corporation. While working at Orr Safety, he
served on RAE Systems’ advisory council.
“Ron will help us meet the growing demand for our fixed and MeshGuard
mesh radio-based wireless gas detection systems that deliver real-time
detection for Industrial Safety, Oil & Gas, Rendering, Waste Treatment and
Environmental operations,” said Ryan Watson, Vice President of America’s
Sales for RAE Systems. “With his extensive experience in the gas detection
industry and past role as an advisor to RAE Systems, Ron will be another
valuable asset to the company’s expansion in sales operations.”
“I’ve witnessed the increasing growth in market demand for wireless Mesh
and Fixed Gas Detection systems, as well as the leadership that RAE Systems
has demonstrated with its sensor and application-specific products,” said
Unruh. “RAE Systems has established itself as a leader in delivering world-
class wireless gas sensors and radiation detection technologies, and is well-
positioned to deliver life-saving technologies to industries that require real-
time, always-on wireless mesh and fixed detection systems”
Growth through Leadership
RAE Systems has been operating as a privately held corporation after
shareholders approved a merger with the global private equity firm, Vector
Capital, in June 2011. Since the merger, Vector Capital has made several key
appointments to its leadership team as part of its strategy to drive future
growth of the company.
In May, RAE Systems added Chris Toney, a well-recognized veteran of the
gas and chemical analysis industry, as Chief Operating Officer. He has more
than 30 years of progressive leadership experience in the chemical industry,
all of which were spent at Hewlett Packard and its spin-off, Agilent
Technologies.
Prior to assuming his current role at RAE Systems, Toney led the Gas Phase
Division of the Chemical Analysis Solutions business at Agilent, which was
broadly recognized as the clear market leader in Gas Chromatography and
Mass Spectrometry in the Environmental, Energy, Forensics, Food Safety and
Life Science segments.
Prior to Toney’s appointment was the addition of Michael Hansen to the
position of Chief Financial Officer in late 2011. Previously, Hansen was Vice
President of finance for Smiths Interconnect (of Smiths Plc., a FTSE 100
company), a $600 million division with worldwide operations offering
technically differentiated electronic and radio frequency products for the
commercial, military and aerospace markets.
RAE Systems offers a full line of fixed gas detection and portable gas detection solutions, including
handheld and personal chemical, compound and radiation detection instruments..
