RYKE Processes
Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
is the foundation for responsible
physical asset management. Apart from
delivering RCM Training and
Facilitation, RYKE has developed tried
and tested processes based on RCM to
address all aspects of asset
management. RYKE processes include
Root Cause Failure Analysis, Preventive
Maintenance Optimization (PMO Pro),
Spares Determination, Reliability
Centered Project Management in
addition to proven implementation
processes.
RYKE processes are bottom up best
practice processes which capture
experience and generate engagement,
a key to successful implementation.
All RYKE processes have proven track
records in harsh asset intensive
operations.
WHAT WE
DO
All stakeholders have demands on what
assets need to deliver. Operators want
equipment that is reliable and safe to
operate, shareholders want the asset to
generate a return on investment (ROI)
and society as a whole does not want to
be subjected to industrial disasters or
accidents.
RCM is a process that determines what
must be done, Tasks, SOP’s, redesigns
etc, such that physical assets deliver
their intended functions to the
satisfactions of their users, owners, and
society as a whole. RCM II, as practiced
by RYKE, as part of the global Aladon
network, is extremely defensible and
efficient. This process is described in the
RCM II book by John Moubray.
Most RCFA processes focus on
attempting to identify the root cause
of a failure. Rarely is there a formal
and defensible process used to
determine how to prevent a
reoccurrence. RCFA Pro identifies
the causes that lead to the
consequence and proactively
identified all other reasonably likely
causes that could lead to a
reoccurrence. RFCA Pro then uses
the RCM II decision logic to develop
robust and defensible remedial
actions aimed at preventing a
reoccurrence.
One of the keys to transitioning
from a reactive breakdown
mode of maintenance to
proactive planned and
scheduled maintenance is the
requirement that maintenance
and operating tasks identify
future plannable work as
opposed to work that has to be
performed immediately. PMO
Pro transforms the current
maintenance and operating
tasks such that the identified
work is plannable. The RYKE
PMO process also ensures that
the tasks being done are safe
and worth doing.
The goal of a Root Cause Failure
Analysis (RCFA) is more about
preventing a reoccurrence of the
failure consequences than it is
about determining the root
cause.
Enable companies to implement at start-
up or transition to a culture of reliability,
allowing them to self sustainably improve
safety, productivity, and production,
through non-capital solutions.
Assets exist to deliver expected
functions – This is what RCM Delivers
The transition from Reactive
to Proactive.
RYKE RELIABILITY SOLUTIONS
Providing asset intensive industries a solid
foundation for effective asset
management practices and
improvements.
Defensible….. Proven…..Efficient
Benefit from non-capital sustainable increases in safety,
productivity and capacity, by transitioning to or implementing,
through operations readiness, a culture of reliability with RYKE
processes, management systems and implementation support.
Benefits are only realized when the
results of the analyses get
implemented. Through many
successful reliability improvement
implementations, RYKE has
developed proven templates to
guide the implementation of
reliability initiatives from the micro
level to corporate wide asset
management strategies.
The only reason to keep a spare is to
prevent the consequences of a
stockout.
RYKE Reliability Inc.
It’s all about implementation
The spares determination process, RCS
Pro, evaluates the cost of stockholding vs
the consequence of the stockout to ensure
that only the required spares are kept. RCS
Pro also determines improved maintenance
practices for the components thus
potentially eliminating the initial need for
the spares altogether.
Projects exist to deliver their intended
functions at start-up and throughout
their technologically useful lives.
The Operations Readiness process ensures
that projects meet their intended
functions with no need for post project
redesigns while preventing catastrophic
failures. At project start-up, maintenance
and operating tasks are determined,
JSA’s/JHA’s and HAZOP’s are completed,
SOP’s and spares are known, and potential
catastrophic failures have been identified
and mitigated.
