Raising awareness with patients, carers and the public about the services that pharmacists and their
teams can and do provide is a key challenge for the profession. Whilst patients, carers and the public
readily identify pharmacists with the supply of medicine there is a need to improve patients
understanding around pharmacists and their teams in relation to the provision of direct patient care and
supporting patients with their health needs.
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society want to encourage and support local pharmacy teams to engage with
patients, carers and the public more about the services that pharmacists and their teams can provide;
whether this is for a specific patient group or more general awareness about pharmacy services.
As a starting point, RPS will be developing a hub page that links to existing local, national and
international resources and campaigns that have been developed specifically for patients, carers and
the public. This will be openly accessible as a source of information for anyone wanting to start or further
develop their own activities.

aimed directly at patients, carers or the public. We would also like to hear about any other projects with
the aim of raising the profile of pharmacists with patients, carers and the public.
