28. Phantom Models
Phantom 3 was released in 2015. Phantom 2 series was released
in 2014 and Phantom 1 in 2013. Cameras and Control Systems are
the differences.
The Phantoms use propietary lithium-polymer batteries for
rotors, cameras and gimbal systems.
The Phantom 2 Vision + uses a camera of DJI’s own design to shoot
video and photography. The DJI Vision app for mobile devices can
have control of the camera, the angle of the camera, some flight
features such us creating navigation waypoints, battery and altitude.
If the Phantom 2 is to be used to make maps the owner must
purchase a gimbal and a camera. A popular combination is: H3-3D
gimbal + GoPro Hero line of cameras. But Canon S100 is a better
camera.
31. Drones system
Today´s drones have autopilots that contain gyroscopes, accelerometers,
magnetometers and barometers.
The drones use microelectromechanical Chips to measure acceleration and
rotation
Some carry onboard echolocation systems to measure the distance to the
ground.
Some carry barometers to measure air pressure. Some carry heat sensors
(thermopiles), which can see the horizon.
Some have magnetometers to measure Earth’s magnetic field most contain GPS
sensors.
32. Multirotor and Fixed-wing drones.
Fixed-wing drones are generally faster. They cannot hover and cannot
easily move vertically.
The advantage of quadcopter drones is their mechanical simplicity. In a
traditional helipcopter the pitch must change in order to provide stability
and maneuverability. On the other hand, in a quadcopter, each blade is set
at a fixed angle.
Hyperspectral cameras and LiDAR can be used by drones.
33. Multirotor and Fixed-wing drones
The Black and yellow senseFly eBee is propelled by an electric pusher-
propeller driven by a 160-watt brushless dc motor.
The eBee RTK costs $25.000. This is no because of its airframe, but
because of the software and hadware it comes with. The eBee weighs just
under a kilogram and has a cruise speed of about 40 kilometers per hour.
The eBee has been develop a fully autonomous system. The eBee ships
with propietary software for both mission planning and post-flight image
processing and photogrametry.
