Some of you might be familiar with this Sitecore graphic of the Three Pillars of Experience > Commerce > and Content…
…”Content” is a big part of the Sitecore product mix --- it’s 1 of the 3 pillars…
…and Content Hub is the hero (product) in this pillar
...it covers everything mentioned here…
The way that Sitecore positions CH is…
…that it’s ONE HOME for all your Digital Assets, Media, Product data, and Other content that you might have…
…it’s also A PLACE WHERE you can Plan, Schedule, and Organize content production...
CH sits in the MIDDLE… of both UPSTREAM and DOWNSTREAM platforms..
…that’s all the content and assets coming into your organisation from agencies, suppliers, ERPs etc.
…AND THEN how that content gets distributed to a CMS, or CRM, or social media channels, or wherever it needs to go…
So, that’s their GRAND VISION of where CH sits
When it comes to what exactly we mean by “Content” – it helps to think of it as 2 things…
1. ASSETS – any Media, like…
and then
2. CONTENT – that’s anything like…
And a really simple way to think of Content Hub in general is that:
1. It’s a HOME for all your Digital Assets…
2. And a PLACE for all your Content Production…
It’s a multi-faceted (platform) that (deals with everything)
When it comes to the features that CH has… there’s basically 5 pillars…
1. DAM – which is where all your assets and content is stored and can be Uploaded and Approved and Downloaded from…
2. MRM (OPERATIONS???) – that manages the Projects and Jobs and Resourcing and Budget etc.
3. CMP (MANAGEMENT???) – which covers the Content Creation and Feedback and Approval etc.
…the MRM is where the work is set up, and the CMP is where the work actually happens…
[Click] --- I’m going to take you into more detail around the DAM, MRM, and CMP as this is where the most action happens…
Another great feature is the level of Control it gives you over who can view which assets…
- Through User Groups & Permissions you can manage who can View, who can Provide Feedback, who can Approve assets…
- When it comes to distribution – there are a bunch of different ways you can control who you share your assets and content with – whether that’s via Public Links or access to CH.
- DRM – restrict how the assets are used – by Time, Geographic Region, Media Type (print, digital)… e.g. DB sponsorship…
Then there’s managing Resources….
How many PEOPLE are involved… and who Creates, Reviews, and Approves content…
And you can also assign BUDGET to certain Projects and Jobs so it’s easy to keep track of how it all fits into the grand scheme of things…
One of the (standout benefits) of CMP is that it allows COLLABORATION between multiple people…
It can act as a centralized place where all work is submitted, given feedback, and approved…
So, no messing around Emails, Google Docs, WhatsApp messages etc…. It’s all there in one system…
And Sitecore really pushes the Productivity and Efficiency benefits of this…
When it comes to the Roll-out of a typical CH project…
…we find a lot of clients start out with the DAM first – and set up all their Assets on it, and get familiar with using it…
…before moving on to actually creating Content on it using the MRM & CMP
Any Integrations and Connectors can be setup at the beginning too – but these can be added to and expanded at any time…
It’s a living, breathing, evolving thing… that’s gets better and more function rich over time…
