Understanding the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change
December 4th , 2009• The World Bank • Washington, DC
Climate change is affecting nations and peoples around the world and will become an increasingly urgent
international issue. All life forms are facing radical changes in their environment. In December 2009, the
international community will meet in Copenhagen for the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change to seek cooperative efforts to effectively combat Climate change.
The World Affairs Council invites high school students and their teachers to participate in a Youth
Leadership Forum on Climate Change. The program will explore the problems of climate change
and review the issues facing nations during the United Nations meeting in December. Students
will participate in simulation to create a conference resolution while examining the pressures
confronting nations and policymakers.
This program will be held at the World Bank. Lunch will be provided.
A nominal fee of $5 per student is required to ensure space for all interested participants.
We hope that you and your students can join us on December 4th for the exciting forum.
