Personal statement
I am a 21 Years old, Indonesian. Born and raised in Capital City of Jakarta. Attended BPK Penabur
Christian High-school, one of the best Schools in Jakarta, and received certificate of excellence due
to outstanding grades. After finishing highschool, I went straight to Japan to enter English bachelor
program GIGA in japan, Kanagawa.
During my years as an Undergraduate student, I have experienced many things that I could
not have achieved if I decided to stay in Indonesia. Of course there are good and bad
experience alike, but I would like to conclude that my studies in Japan has been very
satisfying and productive. In my faculty I have been learning both programming and basic
knowledge in Economics and Marketing. Also I have been studying basic accounting from my
2
nd
year in college. As I thought it would be useful to learn many different things so I can be a
unique individual that can get along with other colleagues when I work in the future.
Other valuable experience in college was when I was desperately searching for Scholarships.
Unlike another students who have their tuition covered 4 years straight from the beginning, I
have to search for a new scholarship every year in order to keep studying in Keio, furthermore
it was the first time for me to live by myself in an unknown place which language I cannot
speak. From that desperate situation I did not lose heart and was able to keep calm and
achieved a private scholarship from Lotte Foundation for my 2
nd
and 3
rd
year. Being in a
community of excellent scholars really opened my mind and networks. Lastly during my 4
th
year I have been admitted as a MEXT scholar under the Japanese government. Being able to
self-sustain myself during my college day without depending on anyone else is an important
mind-set to have to overcome challenges in life. I am sure that after college, this experience
will become valuable when I am paving my career in society and working environment.
In the Campus I am part of the Indonesian language Research Group, as I want to support
Japanese student who is struggling with their learning. This is my first step that I can fulfil my
dream of becoming a bridge that connects the 2 countries. I myself feel that Language
communication abilities are the utmost important and also my strongest point because
learning something new always has communications in the process. I am ready to learn and
to be formed according to corporate value that differs for each company so that I can reach
my full potential and contribute to the company.
