1. QA Test Analyst
IT Services Department
Reporting to the Supervisor - Project Quality Assurance and Testing, you will be
responsible for conducting appropriate tests of various RFCs (Request for
Change) for the Commission’s Information Technology infrastructure for
networks, server and desktop environment. You will adhere to the Patch
Management process by ensuring that validation and verification is performed on
Microsoft OS patches and MS Security Vulnerabilities. You will perform validation
on newly built servers and desktop images. You will develop test strategies for
various infrastructure projects and promote Quality Assurance methods and
standards. Specific duties include: liaising with technical users across various
functional groups within the ITS Department to ensure conformance to quality
and testing requirements; identifying activities that will be conducted in the
project to assure quality in line with the department’s standards, for inclusion in
the project’s Quality Assurance Plan; developing the Requirements Traceability
matrix to ensure test cases are identified and traced back to business
requirements and design specifications; developing test plans and test cases,
and developing/modifying various test scripts that are utilized by the different
project/functional groups; assisting to develop test lab technical requirements for
quality assurance testing; performing installation and integration testing to ensure
new software is compatible with other current installed software systems on
servers and desktops within the network; overseeing user acceptance testing
conducted by the users, to confirm that the software functions as detailed by the
business requirements; performing regression testing as necessary;
documenting problems and following up on corrective actions; maintaining test
logs and test result documentation; ensuring adherence to the Change
Management process from a QA test perspective; reporting activities,
2. accomplishments and concerns on a weekly basis through the TrackRecord tool;
and performing related duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
You require knowledge of testing methodologies with practical experience in
tracking problems and defects, and writing test documentation. You must
possess a high level of business intelligence from an enterprise point of view,
and are able to develop a testing strategy for various types of applications. Must
also have a good working knowledge of the following operating systems,
Windows Server 2000/2003, NT, Unix and MVS, Windows XP, Active Directory.
Must have experience testing application developed using MS SQL 7.1, SQL
2000, Ingres, Oracle 8i/9i and 10g databases. Experience testing applications
developed in the .NET & Web-Base environments including client/server
applications written in VB6, C, C++, and 4GL. Must have a strong knowledge of
the following tools: Compuware Suite (TrackRecord, QA RUN, TestPartner),
Cognos ReportNet, Crystal Reports and Citrix. Experience in a mainframe
environment is an asset. Previous experience with developing Automation and
Performance testing strategies is a definite asset. You also have a sound
understanding of Change & Configuration Management principles and
processes. Familiarity with ITIL, ISO 9000, or similar software quality
management system is a definite asset. Must be an effective team player with
good interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational and problem-
solving skills. These skills and knowledge would normally be acquired through
the completion of a post secondary program in Computer Studies, Software
Engineering, or the equivalent, combined with a couple of years of quality
assurance/testing experience in a software development environment.
Annual Salary Range: $62,953.80 - $78,660.40 (Level 8)
