SAILING EXPERIENCE
Belle A ‘Venture, Crew Summer 2015
Worked on board as crew during the summer of 2015. Was responsible for care and maintenance of the
boat as well as sail handling and navigational assistance
Sea Education Association, Student/Crew September 2014-December 2014
• Crew member during a transatlantic passage from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean with port stops
throughout the Caribbean
• Responsible for knowing the lines, making sail calls, and plotting current positions through celestial and
electronic navigation
Boothbay Sea and Science Center,Instructor Summer 2015
Worked as a sailing instructor for children ages 5-15. Taught them the basics of sailing and proper
maritime stewardship. The students learned to rig, sail, and de-rig Turnabouts and Sonars
Due to the science aspect of the program students also learned about the basics of weather, currents, tides,
navigation, and marine biology and ecology
Pride of Baltimore II, Guest Crew Summer 2012
• Sailed from Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Halifax, Nova Scotia
• Stood watch as an active crew member and assisted in the running of the ship
Vela, Crew Summer 2009 - Summer 2010
• Worked on board the sailing vessel, Vela, for two summers
• Acted as a crew member for a week each summer and assisted in the running of the summer program,
working with the kids and teaching them about the workings of the boat

• Worked as a dock hand for three summers at the marina
• Responsible for catching the boats and handling their lines as they came in as well as basic maintenance of
the boats and the marina
