1. Be Impeccable; Speak with Integrity by Randi Aileen Press, The
Sparkle Princess
Growing up, my dad instilled what the power of one's word can manifest. He would say
"Your word is everything. It is you and you are your word." It is my belief. Later, Don
Miguel Ruiz caught my attention with his book, The Four Agreements.
Am I my word? How impeccable am I really? Ever ask yourself these questions?
The first agreement is to be impeccable with your word." We express "intent" through
our words. What we feel, dream, what we really mean. Words are tools and can alter
moments, situations and intent. Ever say something you regretted and need to eat the
words after they are in the air? Remember the first time you heard something painful?
2. You can probably still recite it. Words can create joy and beauty or cause a living hell for
misuse. Being impeccable and using your word as "you" can set you free. I love thinking
of words as "magic" and Ruiz conveys this as he shares such valuable insight. I love
thinking that I have my own invisible magic wand with words to change the way a
person is feeling or offer something meaningful and many times just a silly sentence to
bring a giggle needed.
Our words are so powerful. They instill "concepts and ideas." We share our strongest
opinions and like a flower, sometimes that grows with beauty and other times can cause
havoc. Consider the First Agreement, "Be Impeccable with Your Word. Speak with
integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to
gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love." And,
share how you feel. This life is short. Doesn't it feel so nice to hear and say words that
move you?
