1. PAADHAI – The Way www.paadhai.org
Paadhai – means ‘Path’ in Tamil - grew out of the worldwide shock provoked by the Asian tsunami. A number of people with
different nationalities gathered to bring their energies together into a commitment full of meaning.
Their aim was to make a difference in the lives of impoverished ones. Not by feeding them; but by educating them, training them and
by showing them the way.
The focus of Paadhai has been on Education, Training and Empowerment of women and children. Paadhai attempts to reach out to
remote communities – typically native, tribal and isolated groups. Projects in Health, Environment and Placement of challenged
people have also been implemented, in selected areas.
Paadhai works on
 identifying replicable projects that are likely to have long-term sustainable impact
 working on projects that show measurable results over a period of time
 implementing projects through partnerships with reliable local NGOs/groups
 conceptualizing and planning all projects in detail - specifying milestones, providing technical and managerial guidance to the
implementing group, monitoring progress and carrying out audits
 keeping donors fully involved through reports and visits; linking them with the target groups for direct rapport
Paadhai projects are supported by well wishers from all parts of the world. Projects are implemented in a number of states in India.
The NGOs supported by Paadhai include Anawim, Altius, Rural Community Trust, Bhoomika, Girijana Seva Trust, Nityata, Junglescapes
and Desh Seva Samiti. Paadhai is also working closely with global NGOs like One Million Lights. Cognizant, HLL and Ramsoft
