3. About MOT-GOI
• The Ministry of Tourism, is the nodal agency for
the formulation of national policies and programs
and for the co-ordination of activities of various
Central Government Agencies, State
Governments/UTs and the Private Sector for the
development and promotion of tourism in the
country.
• The Ministry is headed by the Union Minister for
Tourism and Ministers of State.
4. Brief History:
• The potential for tourism in India was first
recognized with the setting up of a Tourist Traffic
Committee, an ad-hoc body, in 1948,
• 1951-Regional offices in Delhi and Mumbai, and
in in Kolkata and Chennai.
• A separate department of tourism under
the government was first created on 1 March
1958,
• Jha Committee: Established on 1961
• India Tourism Development Corporation was
established in 1966 as a functional agency of
the Department of Tourism
• 1967-Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.

• MOTGOI has 20 offices within the country and has 8
offices abroad and one sub-ordinate office/project

tourism promotion and marketing in their respective

• ITDC came into existence in October 1966 and
has been the prime mover in the progressive
development, promotion and expansion of
tourism in the country.

• The Authorized Capital of the Corporation is
Rs 150 crores and the Paid Up Capital as on
31.03.2023 is Rs 85.77 crores. The share holding
pattern as on 31.03.2023 is as under :

17. • Was set up in 1982, as an autonomous body under
the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India
• Initially, the Council was set up as the National
Board of Studies in Food Management, Catering
& Nutrition under & administrative control.
• The Council regulates academics in the field of
Hospitality Education & training that is imparted at
Institutes affiliated to it.
18. NCHMCT-Few of all Aims &
Objectives
• To prescribe standards for buildings and
equipment of affiliated institutions.
• To grant certificates, diplomas and degrees to
students who have completed the prescribed
courses of study in an affiliated institution and
have passed the examinations conducted by it
• To advise the Government on development of
Hotel Management & Catering Technology
education and training regarding the same; and on
such other matters as the Government may require
19. Aims & Objectives- Continues
• To carry out such other duties as may be imposed
upon it by the Central Government from time to
time.
• To create and maintain a Fund to which shall be
credited:
– all moneys provided by the Government of India and
other Governments/Institutions;
– all fees and other charges received by the Society;
– all moneys received by the Society by way of grants,
gifts, donations, bequests or transfers, and
– all moneys received by the Society in any other manner
or from any other sources.
