4. ABOUT PROJECT
The house built completely in response to
infuse the lake's overwhelming presence and
take advantage of Bengaluru's salubrious
climate, is designed overlooking the lake.
With well-articulated central elements lying
between the built structure and the
lake—landscaping in the form of huge
lawns, a kitchen garden and coconut trees
that came with the site; open spaces in the
form of decks and patios, and water bodies
including a huge swimming pool and a 6"
deep mirror pool—the design vocabulary is
made to naturally pull you towards the vast
expanse of the lake.

5. CONCEPT BOARD
The house is mend to lap the nature and retain the ethnic c Indian touch, that inculcates the
intimacy required in a 'home', that converses through its charming materials, furniture and
accessories
The designs rely on principles of integrating aesthetics, liveability, comfort, function,
eco-friendliness and a hint of luxury into spaces that are profoundly traditional and rooted in
Indian heritage, but flaunt a contemporary vibe.
'less is more' dictum, that seems to have been
followed throughout the design.
The color palatte is set to warm tone to
complement with the landscape of the site.
The hues are black, grey, brown, orange, golden.
Hues of turquise blue is added to contrast with
the warm tones which is the color of fresh water
body (lake).

6. SITE PLAN
6
The design divides the house (11,135
sq.ft. built up area) into two
blocks—the main block and the guest
block, very stringently maintaining
the privacy, while at the same time
connecting them evidently through
some of these 'dividing' elements.
Creating an idyllic setting for social
gatherings, there is a tenderness to
that entire space which captures a
certain freeze where ironically, one
would also like to sit alone and gaze
deep into the sky and the waters.
11. ENTRANCE AREA
11
KEY PLAN
❏ The driveway directs one
to the main entrance
framed by black steel
portals that leads to
foyer .
❏ The horizontal screen
wall in black slate at the
entrance (laced by the
lotus pond that
continues around the
formal living)
camouflages the lake's
presence,
❏ And small lily pond
which gives a very
pleasant feel .
12. FOYER(12’0”-14’9”)
12
KEY PLAN
The foyer opens onto a double height sky-lit central water court
that holds your gaze at one end with a feature wall in slate butch
work.
13. CENTRAL COURTYARD
13
KEY PLAN
❑ The courtyard's verticality is
well-emphasized by its pitched
glass roof that lets the sunlight
stream on to the suspended paper
chandeliers which further enhance
this vertical spaciousness.
❑ The sculpture of a lone reclining
man in bronze in the water, with a
few fishes swimming around it, is
enough to validate the 'less is
more' dictum . Seating ledges all
around this water court simply
work to invite a constant connect
with the entire house.
❑ The bronze sculpture in the water
court gives the illusion of being a
float

majorly from Milan and Amsterdam sit
silently into the spaces. The sofa set in
the informal living seems to be wanting
to bond with everyone, capturing views
from all around, while the breakfast
nook has a fun-yet-wholly
contemporary seating. Smart
straight-lined furniture adorns the
dining, while platform beds work for
most of the bedrooms. Some classy and
cosy outdoor furniture engages in the
relaxing ambience. Delicately chosen

Materials—primarily stone, concrete
and glass find some interesting
experimentations—the plastered walls
and ceilings in most of the rooms have
cement slurry polished in certain
patterns that convey a raw look; Slate is
used alternatively, as cladding in the
exteriors, as butch work as the backdrop
in the water court, dining and staircase
area, and as landscaping elements in the
courts. The Italian—poured resin
