DEFINITION
Recruitment is interpreted as the procedure of
exploring and obtaining applicants for jobs,
from among whom the right people can be
picked out.
It is the process of searching capable applicants
for employment.
DEFINITION
1. To seek out, evaluate & obtain commitment
from an individual, who is willing to do job
2. To place & orient the person’s for the
successful conduct of work in an organization.
3. To find out source of man power to meet job
requirements.
4. To bring linkage activities among those with
jobs & those seeking jobs.
PURPOSES
5. To stimulate people to apply for jobs to
increase the hiring ratio.
6. To precede the selection process.
7. To attract the man power in adequate
numbers.
8. To facilitate effective selection of an efficient
working force.

a. Planned: arise from changes in organization
& retirement policy.
b. Anticipated: by studying trends in the
internal & external organization.
c. Unexpected: arise due to resignations,
deaths, accidents & illness.

 Discovery & cultivation of the employment
market for posts/marketing a job in the
public/private services.
 Use of attractive recruitment literature &
publicity.
 Use of scientific tests for determining abilities
of the candidates.

 Tapping capable candidates from within the
service.
 Placement program which assigns the right
man to the right job.
 A follow-up probationary program as an
integral part of the recruitment process.

1. The process of recruitment as to be from
administrative office.
2. Termination or creation of any post should
be done by responsible officers.
3. Only the vacant position should be filled &
neither less or more should not be employed.
4. Job description & work analysis should be
made before recruitment.

developed by an experienced person.
6. Recruitment of workers has to be done from
internal or external sources.
7. It should be done on the basis of definite
qualifications & set standards.
