• Place over nose, mouth and chin
• Fit flexible nose piece over nose bridge
• Secure on head with one elastic strap
• Secure the second elastic strap behind the neck
• Adjust to fit, sealing properly over nose
• Perform a fit check –
– Inhale – respirator should collapse
– Exhale – check for air leakage around face
23. WHERE TO REMOVE PPE
• In designated Room with Signage
• Important - Remove respirator outside patients
room
• Ensure that hand hygiene facilities are
available at the point needed, e.g., sink or
alcohol-based hand rub
24. SEQUENCE FOR REMOVING PPE
• Gloves
• Gown
• Face shield or goggles
• Mask or respirator
25. • Designated area Identify ( preferably outside patient
room )
• Inspect PPE
• Hand hygiene on Outer gloves
• Remove Outer gloves
• Perform hand rub on inner gloves
• Remove face shield if worn
• Hand rub on inner glove
• Put hood down and Remove gown + Shoe cover –
Inside out , DO NOT touch OUTSIDE !

LAST STEP
Most important steps are –
• Ensure you are away from the area that requires
N95 use (contaminated area)
• Remove touching only the straps – do not touch
the front of your respirator
