Ultra Electronics Airport Systems
UltraIB
		 Integrated Airport Messaging
UltraIB provides a low risk, standards-based
solution for the long term integration of airport
systems, using proven integration services.
Ultra has created data integration services
specifically to satisfy the needs of airport
systems integration. These services conform
to the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
and can be reused by multiple systems.
Information distribution services include:
active flights, seasonal flights, resource
plans, reference data and aircraft ground
movements.
Key Features
■ Secure, modular, scalable and extensible
infrastructure
■ Provides a standard set of pre-
implemented data integration services
designed for reuse
■ All XML message schemas architected for
wide applicability and conforming to airport
industry best practice
■ Supports multiple standard protocols
including JMS and Web Services (HTTP/
SOAP, WS-Reliable Messaging, WS-
Security, WS-Policy) etc
■ Software adaptors available for legacy
systems and industry standard message
brokers
■ Configurable interface features including:
message filtering, message transformation
and data snapshots for recovery
Features
■ Supports long term IT
strategy
■ Based on industry
standard messaging
technology using XML
and Web Services
■ Proven and flexible
product solution gives
lower project cost and
risk
■ User governance
of the integration
process and
configuration of new
interfaces
■ High availability
architecture with
automated failure
recovery
UltraIB
Other services include: active flights
update, active flights request and
query; AODB Alarm and visual paging
updates; equipment fault management
and reporting; meter reading, resource
usage update and public address
request.
The UltraIB approach substantially de-
risks airport integration, since each new
integration project is built on tried and
tested services. The market leading
Sonic ESB provides the underlying
message transport and security
features.
UltraIB ensures a centralised approach
at all stages of the integration process
including at the design stage, interface
configuration stage and production
stage.
UltraIB is used to loosely couple both
Ultra applications and other suppliers'
applications. The Ultra product suite
of UltraDB, UltraFIDS, UltraResource
and UltraIB provides the foundation
for the flexible long term integration
of airport systems.
When combined with Ultra's Project
Management UltraIB provides a fast
low risk integration solution.
The UltraIB uses a high performance
messaging architecture and is
scalable to manage messaging
requirements for major hub airports
operating 350 flights per hour.
The loosely coupled integration
avoids supplier 'lock-in'; a common,
enterprise-wide approach enables
faster integration of a range of
systems by re-using existing
services.
The UltraIB includes airport-specific
data integration services; architected
and designed for solving airport
integration issues.
Configuration of additional system
interfaces brings plug-and-play control
to airport staff.
User friendly Web Console for IB and
interface monitoring, message tracking
and control.
Security features include system
authentication and service authorisation;
integration with active directory and
enterprise certificate authority; data and/
or wire encryption.
