As Electrical Production Manager for Pioneers in Engineering, a UC Berkeley student organization, I directed a crew of 60 staff to provide electrical systems for 400 students, teachers, and mentors participating in an annual 8-week Robotics Competition. My responsibilities included budgeting and purchasing components, planning and implementing an assembly line to produce over 1000 PCBs and electrical kits within 6 weeks, and ensuring quality control and documentation for the high school students. Sample schematics I worked with included the 'Grizzly' motor controller.
2. Pioneers in Engineering is a UC Berkeley student
organization that engages economically disadvantaged
students in STEM activities and careers through outreach
events, primarily an annual 8-week Robotics Competition
participated by 400 students, teachers and mentors.
As Electrical Production Manager, my
task is to direct a crew of 60 staff to
provide 40 electrical systems for teams
participating in the Robotics Competition.
3. ● Each base electrical system consist of a
power distribution board , battery level
indicators, motor controllers, team
indicators, BeagleBone capes, and a
multitude of Anderson and MTA wiring.
● The extended electrical system includes
servo controllers, color and reflectance
sensors, metal detectors, and limit
switches.
● About 1000 PCBs were processed to
create 25 working kits.

4. Electrical Production Management
● Budgeting and purchasing electrical components in
bulk
○ Coordinating with PCB fabrication companies
● Planning an efficient reflow soldering assembly line
○ Testing component heat sensitivity/multiple
reflows
○ Optimizing reflow oven cycles
○ Maintaining solder paste consistency during
long exposures to room temperature
● Designing and machining a precise reflow solder paste
applicator and laser cutting stencils
● Implementing all manual labor with 60 staff in a
limited span of 6 weeks

5. Electrical Production Management
● Chemical cleaning with ultrasonic baths
● Teaching and managing staff in the through hole
soldering process
● Visual inspection, quality control
● Flashing firmware, testing with sensors and actuators
○ Hardware debugging broken boards
○ Fixing poorly soldered components with hot air
rework/heat beds
● Cutting, crimping, soldering all wires with polarized
connectors
● Calibrating battery chargers and soldering safe
connectors
● Assembly with custom made acrylic enclosures
● Documentation with intuitive instructions
