ORMC is an HCA affiliate and a for-profit hospital. It is a 200-bed acute care and a Level II Trauma Facility,
serving Marion, Citrus, and Hernando counties. ORMC is a Joint Commission Gold Seal accredited facility for
knee, hip, and spine surgeries, Center for Excellence American Society for Bariatric Surgeons, Certified Primary
Stroke Center, and an accredited Chest Pain Center.
Director Med-Surg and Trauma Progressive Care Unit (TPCU) Dec. 2013 to Dec. 2015
Responsible for 54-bed unit, 86 FTE specializing in surgical procedures, general medical and a dedicated trauma
step-down unit of 20 beds.
• Supervision of service line specific coordinators, unit manager, nurses, PCT's and secretarial staff.
• Budgetary responsibilities ranging from daily staffing, supplies and equipment, position requisitioning, Kronos
and Lawson.
• Service line communication/collaboration with physicians and mid-levels.
Accomplishments:
• Improvement in HCAHPS scores 30% with TPCU achieving the highest in house increase over previous year.
• Implemented monthly educational in-services to include: Oral care and Trach care; Dash Monitor utilization;
Chest tube insertion and maintenance; Correct consent method; Bedside Shift Report; Wound evaluations and
documentation; Fall Risk Patients: Identification, Documentation and Prevention; Rounding with a Purpose;
Restraint Utilization, Risks and Documentation, etc.
• Decreasing RN turn-over rate to 7%, while promoting many of our nurses to transition to other areas within our
facility, ICU, ED, PACU.
• Employee satisfaction increase of 40% over previous year.
• Hardwired service excellence basics such as teamwork, bedside shift report, no-pass zones, patient rounding
and bringing empathy and compassion back to the bedside.
• Implemented self-scheduling, peer interviews, "birthday" wall, first UPC (Unit Practice Council), Star Achiever,
Director/Coordinators rounding on staff and patients.

• Staff nurse in Emergency Department and ICU. Floated to ORMC as well. Competent in all aspects of
emergency care delivering quality, compassionate care. Also worked in the outpatient infusion center which

The Toledo Hospital is a member of the Promedica Health System. This non-profit 700-bed acute care facility is a
Level I Adult Trauma and a Level II Pediatric Trauma tertiary care hospital. TTH has been named a HealthGrades
100 Best Hospitals and the only hospital in Ohio to be named as a HealthGrades distinguished Hospital for Clinical
Excellence (5% in the nation), three years in a row. The emergency room has a yearly volume of just over 90,000.

triage, express area, dedicated pediatric area with Level II Pediatric Trauma and a Level I Trauma Center.

assignments including nursing, paramedics and nursing assistants.
