Eye on just some of the many CBS employees who are veterans.

As we prepare to celebrate Veteran’s Day 2014, it is with great pride that the CBS
Veteran’s Network presents our first annual CBS VETERANS UPDATE
Newsletter. In the following pages, you will find showcased just a selection of all
the special initiatives that have been taken company-wide to help veterans.
It is only right and proper that we should do this, for CBS’s history and members of
the military are inextricably intertwined. Our founding Chairman, William S. Paley
was a World War II veteran, along with a long list of early employees. From the
very beginning, correspndents such as Edward R. Murrow, Charles
Collingwood, Winston Burdett, Larry LaSueur, Eric Sevareid, Howard K. Smith, William
L. Shirer, Richard C. Hottelet and Mary “Marvin” Breckinridge, among many others, defined the role of modern war corre-
spondent and in so doing made CBS synonymous with the highest standards of Radio and later TV journalism -- a status rec-
ognized around the world today.
As I write this letter, veterans currently employed at CBS continue the great legacy of those who came before them and, in
ways big and small, make ours the world-class company that it is today. This Veterans Day, we honor those employees, as
well as the more than 22 million living veterans in the United States. More than 2.6 million of them nobly answered the call of
service after the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Now they and their families face significant challenges as they transition to civilian
life. Despite being amazingly skilled and talented, many are struggling to gain traction in today’s competitive marketplace.
Gainful employment, advanced training and education, general upward economic mobility and a chance at the American
Dream are all that they ask for.
This reminds me of my own difficult transition from the Army many years ago. Without a doubt, I would not be where I am
today if it had not been for the help and guidance of so many selfless people in my life. Because of them, I went from being an
Army Ranger who was medically discharged because of injuries sustained when my parachute malfunctioned -- breaking my
legs and back -- to becoming a CPA, then a lawyer, and then having the good fortune of working for CBS as its General Tax
Counsel. Unfortunately, far too many of our nation’s veterans don’t have the support and mentoring that is so critical to a
successful transition like mine. They are now looking to us for aid and inspiration. How will we respond?
As CBS’s Chief Veteran Officer, I have had the pleasure to meet with many fellow employees across the Company and to dis-
cuss the issues these veterans face. There is a great sense of pride when they hear the extent of CBS’s unwavering commit-
ment to assist our nation’s veterans and their families. Their common response is “What can I do to help?” The answer is
simple. As a CBS family, let us look beyond merely thanking Veterans for their service. Let us continue to come together to
find impactful ways that we can make a difference in their lives. Let us ensure that the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and
their families are never forgotten, and that this great Company is doing all that it can to promote their well-being. Like those
who have come before us, this is our call to action!

CBS VETERAN VOLUNTEERING
l On Monday, April 21, CBS hosted the Veterans in
Film & Television meeting where Showtime Networks’
Chairman and CEO Matt Blank spoke to 120 veterans
working in the entertainment industry. Veterans in Film
& Television is a non-profit organization that advocates
for, and promotes, the interests of military veterans
working in the entertainment industry.

CBS hosted
“Veterans
Fairs” in New
York City and
Los Angeles.
The goal of
these events
was to high-
light many of
the resources
available to
Veteran
employees and their families who have served in the
United States military. On hand were a number of veter-
an service organizations and agencies of the United
States government. The fairs also allowed veterans
inside the company to connect with one another, and for
management and colleagues to honor their service.

CBS MOUNTS “OPERATION GRATITUDE”
On March 11, 2014,
Nina Tassler,
Chairman, CBS
Entertainment,
rallied the CBS
Television Network
and Studio staff in
Los Angeles to the
California Army
National Guard
Armory in Van Nuys
to dedicate a “day of
service” to
“Operation
Gratitude!” In total,
more than 250
employees helped
the non-profit organi-
zation prepare more
than 1,100 care packages filled with snacks, letters of
appreciation and CBS-themed gifts to be sent to currently
deployed U.S. service members. Noted Tassler: "As colos-
sal as our workload is, we have to remember that there's an
entire nation outside of our walls. And while the decisions
we make help to entertain this nation, there are people,
heroes, fighting to protect it every day."

l During May, Military Appreciation Month, CBS
employees donated gently used business attire to the
Save A Suit organization to distribute to returning
veterans helping them enter the workforce with the
confidence to succeed. (See photo above)
l In May, in honor of CBS veterans and all those
who serve and have served, the Company made a
donation to purchase poppies from the American
Legion and gave them to employees at several loca-
tions the week before memorial day including the CBS
Broadcast Center in New York (see photo at right).
In addition, during Employee Appreciation Day, lead-
ers of the CBS Veterans Network were at Simon and
Schuster’s Riverside, N.J. location location to honor 4
employees who
had served, or
were currently
serving, in the U.S.
military. They also
honored Simon
and Schuster
employees and
their family mem-
bers who have served.

CBS VETERAN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
In the fall of 2014, CBS units across the Company
are participating in a coordinated Veteran intern-
ship program managed by Josh Brackett, VP,
Strategy/Program Director, Veterans Initiatives. 12
interns were hired in the following divisions/depart-
ments: Corporate, Strategic Sourcing;
Corporate, IT; Corporate,Tax; CBS News,
Investigative Unit; TV Stations, Creative Services/Promo
Department; RADIO, Digital Local; CBS Interactive, Media TV
Guide; Showtime, Finance and CBS Brand Studios, Marketing.
Interns are from different schools across New York City and will have
the opportunity to network, meet leaders in our company and will be
offered career development workshops. ... CBS is a Charter Member
of VetsSuccess, a veterans support initiative created by the SANS
Institute to help transitioning veterans receive the training and certifica-
tions they need to quickly and effectively build a career in cybersecurity.

CBS EXECUTIVE SPEARHEADS
VETERANS ACT IN CONGRESS
The common language of the U.S. House and Senate
versions of the “Vow To Hire Heroes Extension Act” was
crafted by CBS Chief Veteran Officer Richard Jones
(above) who attended meetings on Capital Hil to advocate
the Act’s passage on behalf of the American Legion and
the VFW. Noted the Legion, there was a time that some
said this was a lost cause, but, Jones and others did not
give up and ultimately the Act passed which extends the
current work opportunity tax credit for hiring veterans
through Dec., 2016. Said Jones: “We believe (that) our bill
extending the WOTC is a smarter approach. It will put veter-
ans to work, make them contributing taxpayers and, most
important of all, will help them and their families successfully
reintegrate into the civilian economy.”
And... In March 2014, Richard Jones was appointed to
the Board of Directors of the Wounded Warrior Project
whose mission is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s
aid for the needs of injured service members, to help them
aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct
programs and services to meet their needs.

l On June 28, CBS employees in New York and Los
Angeles joined EcoMedia, Volunteers of America and
the CBS Veterans Network to help improve veterans’
residences. In New York, employees (top photo) painted
kitchens and lounges at a facility that provides perma-
nent supportive housing for veterans. In Los Angeles
(bottom photo), employees painted and gardened at a
veterans’ housing facility in Echo Park.
l On Sept. 21, the CBS Westchester (NY)
Triathlon Team raised over $8,000 for the Wounded
Warrior Project.
l In October, former

CBS EcoMedia, in partnership with CBS
advertisers and non-profit partners has
supported numerous veterans and mili-
tary projects in 2014. An example is the
division’s support with WellnessAd Advertiser
UnitedHealthcare, of the Volunteers of America –
Hawley Center for Homeless Veterans, San Diego, CA
and the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation Ocean
Therapy – USMC Wounded Warriors, Camp Pendleton,

Earlier this year, CBS Cares and Richard Jones teamed up
with CBS RADIO to create two PSAs with Bucha on post
traumatic stress. Previously, CBS Cares initiated a Radio
program on the subject in partnership with Jones, CBS
News and CBS RADIO featuring Vietnam veteran Steve
Kroft, interviewing veterans experiencing PTS and a military
psychiatrist specialized in the field. In addition to CBS
RADIO, The Pentagon Channel, Armed Forces Radio
also aired the program, which was used by the Special
Forces Foundation.
In addition, CBS Cares continues to air PSAs supporting
Operation Gratitude, and recently honored former Special
Forces veteran Steve Robinson, a much beloved advocate
for veterans with PTS - who tragically passed away in the
summer.

Wood is the CEO of Team Rubicon, a disaster relief
organization that unites military veterans with first
responders.
l In October, CBS Human Resources representa-
tives participated in the 2014 “Honor A Hero, Hire A
Vet Job & Resource Fair” held in Los Angeles. At the
event they met veteran job seekers, active duty military
members, National Guard and Reserve members,
and eligible spouses to discuss opportunities available
at local CBS units.

DAYTIME SUPPORTS
OUR VETERANS
Throughout the year, CBS Daytime looks for opportuni-
ties to support Veterans. For example, a THE YOUNG &
THE RESTLESS storyline depicted the character Dylan
McAvoy (played by Steve Burton), suffering from PTS.
A CBS Cares PSA on PTS featuring Burton providing
education and employment opportunities to vets, aired at
the end of an episode and has aired in Primetime.
THE PRICE IS RIGHT host Drew Carey is a former
Marine. On Veterans' Day 2014, the entire audience and
contestants will once again feature Veterans from
different branches of the military, including this year
representatives from “Operation Mend,” which provides
treatment to Veterans who sustained serious facial
injuries in Itaq and Afghanistan (see photo above).
RED, WHITE AND “BLUE BLOODS”
On Jan. 7, 2014, CBS aired the critically acclaimed BLUE
BLOODS episode #413 “Unfinished Business”.
The powerful storyline involved Danny Reagan (Donny
Wahlberg’s character), a former Marine who served two
tours in Iraq, investigating an Army soldier suffering from
post traumatic stress (PTS) after returning from
Afghanistan. This powerful and emotional episode
explored the proud military service of the Reagan family
and concluded with the soldier suffering from PTS
committing suicide. A CBS Cares PSA, voiced over by
BLUE BLOODS star Tom Selleck, followed the episode
directing viewers to visit the Veterans Administration’s
National Post-Traumatic Stress website, and to consider
supporting the Wounded Warrior Project and the Bob
Woodruff Foundation. To watch the episode go to

And... In November 2014, CBS along with other New
York City employers, is sponsoring a City of New
York (CUNY) event to honor top veteran students.
Simon & Schuster will give honorees copies of the
book 1776 by David McCullough. ... Mike Owen,
Manager, CBS Recruitment Operations, represents the
Company on Los Angeles 10,000 Strong, the
Mayor's Veterans Hiring Initiative. Prior to joining CBS,
Mike served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1998-
2006 and was stationed in Germany, Fort Benning,
Georgia, and then most recently in Tikrit, Iraq. ... CBS
would like to welcome David Orozco, Talent
Acquisition Specialist, who will be helping the CBS
Veteran Network with veteran recruiting. Orozco is a
veteran who prior to joining CBS he worked at the
Department of Defense as a veteran employment
coordinator.

JONES CBS CORPORATION CHIEF VETERAN OFFICER As we prepare to celebrate Veteran’s Day 2014, it is with great pride that the CBS Veteran’s Network presents our first annual CBS VETERANS UPDATE Newsletter. In the following pages, you will find showcased just a selection of all the special initiatives that have been taken company-wide to help veterans. It is only right and proper that we should do this, for CBS’s history and members of the military are inextricably intertwined. Our founding Chairman, William S. Paley was a World War II veteran, along with a long list of early employees. From the very beginning, correspndents such as Edward R. Murrow, Charles Collingwood, Winston Burdett, Larry LaSueur, Eric Sevareid, Howard K. Smith, William L. Shirer, Richard C. Hottelet and Mary “Marvin” Breckinridge, among many others, defined the role of modern war corre- spondent and in so doing made CBS synonymous with the highest standards of Radio and later TV journalism -- a status rec- ognized around the world today. As I write this letter, veterans currently employed at CBS continue the great legacy of those who came before them and, in ways big and small, make ours the world-class company that it is today. This Veterans Day, we honor those employees, as well as the more than 22 million living veterans in the United States. More than 2.6 million of them nobly answered the call of service after the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Now they and their families face significant challenges as they transition to civilian life. Despite being amazingly skilled and talented, many are struggling to gain traction in today’s competitive marketplace. Gainful employment, advanced training and education, general upward economic mobility and a chance at the American Dream are all that they ask for. This reminds me of my own difficult transition from the Army many years ago. Without a doubt, I would not be where I am today if it had not been for the help and guidance of so many selfless people in my life. Because of them, I went from being an Army Ranger who was medically discharged because of injuries sustained when my parachute malfunctioned -- breaking my legs and back -- to becoming a CPA, then a lawyer, and then having the good fortune of working for CBS as its General Tax Counsel. Unfortunately, far too many of our nation’s veterans don’t have the support and mentoring that is so critical to a successful transition like mine. They are now looking to us for aid and inspiration. How will we respond? As CBS’s Chief Veteran Officer, I have had the pleasure to meet with many fellow employees across the Company and to dis- cuss the issues these veterans face. There is a great sense of pride when they hear the extent of CBS’s unwavering commit- ment to assist our nation’s veterans and their families. Their common response is “What can I do to help?” The answer is simple. As a CBS family, let us look beyond merely thanking Veterans for their service. Let us continue to come together to find impactful ways that we can make a difference in their lives. Let us ensure that the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and their families are never forgotten, and that this great Company is doing all that it can to promote their well-being. CBS VETERAN VOLUNTEERING l On Monday, April 21, CBS hosted the Veterans in Film & Television meeting where Showtime Networks’ Chairman and CEO Matt Blank spoke to 120 veterans working in the entertainment industry. Veterans in Film & Television is a non-profit organization that advocates for, and promotes, the interests of military veterans working in the entertainment industry. l In honor of Military Appreciation Month (May), CBS hosted “Veterans Fairs” in New York City and Los Angeles. The goal of these events was to high- light many of the resources available to Veteran employees and their families who have served in the United States military. On hand were a number of veter- an service organizations and agencies of the United States government. The fairs also allowed veterans inside the company to connect with one another, and for management and colleagues to honor their service. (Continued on page 4) 3 CBS MOUNTS “OPERATION GRATITUDE” On March 11, 2014, Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment, rallied the CBS Television Network and Studio staff in Los Angeles to the California Army National Guard Armory in Van Nuys to dedicate a “day of service” to “Operation Gratitude!” In total, more than 250 employees helped the non-profit organi- zation prepare more than 1,100 care packages filled with snacks, letters of appreciation and CBS-themed gifts to be sent to currently deployed U.S. service members. Noted Tassler: "As colos- sal as our workload is, we have to remember that there's an entire nation outside of our walls. And while the decisions we make help to entertain this nation, there are people, heroes, fighting to protect it every day." (VETERAN VOLUNTEERING, continued from page 3) l During May, Military Appreciation Month, CBS employees donated gently used business attire to the Save A Suit organization to distribute to returning veterans helping them enter the workforce with the confidence to succeed. (See photo above) l In May, in honor of CBS veterans and all those who serve and have served, the Company made a donation to purchase poppies from the American Legion and gave them to employees at several loca- tions the week before memorial day including the CBS Broadcast Center in New York (see photo at right). In addition, during Employee Appreciation Day, lead- ers of the CBS Veterans Network were at Simon and Schuster’s Riverside, N.J. location location to honor 4 employees who had served, or were currently serving, in the U.S. military. They also honored Simon and Schuster employees and their family mem- bers who have served. (Continued on Page 5) CBS VETERAN’S INTERNSHIP PROGRAM In the fall of 2014, CBS units across the Company are participating in a coordinated Veteran intern- ship program managed by Josh Brackett, VP, Strategy/Program Director, Veterans Initiatives. 12 interns were hired in the following divisions/depart- ments: Corporate, Strategic Sourcing; Corporate, IT; Corporate,Tax; CBS News, Investigative Unit; TV Stations, Creative Services/Promo Department; RADIO, Digital Local; CBS Interactive, Media TV Guide; Showtime, Finance and CBS Brand Studios, Marketing. Interns are from different schools across New York City and will have the opportunity to network, meet leaders in our company and will be offered career development workshops. ... CBS is a Charter Member of VetsSuccess, a veterans support initiative created by the SANS Institute to help transitioning veterans receive the training and certifica- tions they need to quickly and effectively build a career in cybersecurity. Veterans who work at CBS, and are interested in getting involved in the CBS Veterans Network, please email Josh Brackett, Program Director, Veterans Initiatives, at joshua.brackett@cbs.com CBS EXECUTIVE SPEARHEADS VETERANS ACT IN CONGRESS The common language of the U.S. House and Senate versions of the “Vow To Hire Heroes Extension Act” was crafted by CBS Chief Veteran Officer Richard Jones (above) who attended meetings on Capital Hil to advocate the Act’s passage on behalf of the American Legion and the VFW. Noted the Legion, there was a time that some said this was a lost cause, but, Jones and others did not give up and ultimately the Act passed which extends the current work opportunity tax credit for hiring veterans through Dec., 2016. Said Jones: “We believe (that) our bill extending the WOTC is a smarter approach. It will put veter- ans to work, make them contributing taxpayers and, most important of all, will help them and their families successfully reintegrate into the civilian economy.” And... In March 2014, Richard Jones was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Wounded Warrior Project whose mission is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, to help them aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.

(VETERAN VOLUNTEERING, continued from Page 4) l On June 28, CBS employees in New York and Los Angeles joined EcoMedia, Volunteers of America and the CBS Veterans Network to help improve veterans’ residences. In New York, employees (top photo) painted kitchens and lounges at a facility that provides perma- nent supportive housing for veterans. In Los Angeles (bottom photo), employees painted and gardened at a veterans’ housing facility in Echo Park. l On Sept. 21, the CBS Westchester (NY) Triathlon Team raised over $8,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. l In October, former Marine Jake Wood (photo at left) spoke at CBS HQ in New York about his new book, "Take Command - Lessons in Leadership: How to be a First Responder in Business." (Continued on Page 6) CBS Westchester Triathalon Team EYE ON: ECOMEDIA CBS EcoMedia, in partnership with CBS advertisers and non-profit partners has supported numerous veterans and mili- tary projects in 2014. An example is the division’s support with WellnessAd Advertiser UnitedHealthcare, of the Volunteers of America – Hawley Center for Homeless Veterans, San Diego, CA and the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation Ocean Therapy – USMC Wounded Warriors, Camp Pendleton, CA.   • 6. EYE ON: CBS CARES No cause is more important to CBS Cares than support of Veterans, active military personnel and their families. For Veterans' Day 2014, the CBS Cares team, Chief Veterans' Officer Richard Jones and CBS News Senior Executive Producer Susan Zirinsky worked together to create a very special primetime PSA featuring legendary Medal of Honor Recipient and Vietnam War Veteran Paul "Bud” Bucha. To view the PSA, go to http://tinyurl. com/n57sot6 Earlier this year, CBS Cares and Richard Jones teamed up with CBS RADIO to create two PSAs with Bucha on post traumatic stress. Previously, CBS Cares initiated a Radio program on the subject in partnership with Jones, CBS News and CBS RADIO featuring Vietnam veteran Steve Kroft, interviewing veterans experiencing PTS and a military psychiatrist specialized in the field. In addition to CBS RADIO, The Pentagon Channel, Armed Forces Radio also aired the program, which was used by the Special Forces Foundation. In addition, CBS Cares continues to air PSAs supporting Operation Gratitude, and recently honored former Special Forces veteran Steve Robinson, a much beloved advocate for veterans with PTS - who tragically passed away in the summer. (VETERAN VOLUNTEERING, continued from Page 5) Wood is the CEO of Team Rubicon, a disaster relief organization that unites military veterans with first responders. l In October, CBS Human Resources representa- tives participated in the 2014 “Honor A Hero, Hire A Vet Job & Resource Fair” held in Los Angeles. At the event they met veteran job seekers, active duty military members, National Guard and Reserve members, and eligible spouses to discuss opportunities available at local CBS units.   • 7. DAYTIME SUPPORTS OUR VETERANS Throughout the year, CBS Daytime looks for opportuni- ties to support Veterans. For example, a THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS storyline depicted the character Dylan McAvoy (played by Steve Burton), suffering from PTS. A CBS Cares PSA on PTS featuring Burton providing education and employment opportunities to vets, aired at the end of an episode and has aired in Primetime. THE PRICE IS RIGHT host Drew Carey is a former Marine. On Veterans' Day 2014, the entire audience and contestants will once again feature Veterans from different branches of the military, including this year representatives from “Operation Mend,” which provides treatment to Veterans who sustained serious facial injuries in Itaq and Afghanistan (see photo above). RED, WHITE AND “BLUE BLOODS” On Jan. 7, 2014, CBS aired the critically acclaimed BLUE BLOODS episode #413 “Unfinished Business”. The powerful storyline involved Danny Reagan (Donny Wahlberg’s character), a former Marine who served two tours in Iraq, investigating an Army soldier suffering from post traumatic stress (PTS) after returning from Afghanistan. This powerful and emotional episode explored the proud military service of the Reagan family and concluded with the soldier suffering from PTS committing suicide. A CBS Cares PSA, voiced over by BLUE BLOODS star Tom Selleck, followed the episode directing viewers to visit the Veterans Administration’s National Post-Traumatic Stress website, and to consider supporting the Wounded Warrior Project and the Bob Woodruff Foundation. Prior to joining CBS, Mike served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1998- 2006 and was stationed in Germany, Fort Benning, Georgia, and then most recently in Tikrit, Iraq. ...
