What is Religious Minority?? A minority
religion is a religion held by a minority
of the population of a country, state, or
region. People who belong to a
minority religion may be subject to
discrimination and prejudice, especially
when the religious differences correlate
with ethnic differences.

Minorities in
PakistanPakistan is the second most populous Muslim
country. Minorities form approximately 3.6
percent of the total population, these include
Hindu, Christian, Parsi, Buddhist, Ahmadi etc.
Though they are spread all over the country, the
majority of non- Muslims are concentrated in few
pockets.

Hinduism in
Pakistan
• Hinduism is the second largest religion
in Pakistan. However, the Pakistan
Hindu Council puts the percentage at
around 4%, which puts the population at
an estimated 8 million As of 2010,
Pakistan has the fifth largest Hindu
population in the world and by 2050 will
rise to the fourth largest Hindu population
in the world,, reaching 5.6 million and
constituting 2% of the Pakistan
population. After Pakistan
gained independence from the British
Raj, 4.7 million of West
Pakistan's Hindus and Sikhs moved to
India as refugees. The famous Hindu
temple in Pakistan is katas raj and it is
2.5 thousand year old.

Sikhism in Pakistan
• Sikhism in the area of present-day
Pakistan has an extensive heritage and
history,. Most Sikhs live in the province
of Punjab, a part of the larger Punjab
region. Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru
Nanak Sahib Ji, the founder of Sikhism, is
located in the Punjab province.
• In the 18th and 19th centuries, the Sikh
community became a powerful political force,
with Sikh leader Ranjit Singh founding the
first Sikh empire, which had its capital
in Lahore.
