PVSM, AVSM, ADCLt Gen Rajeev Chopra, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati
Vishisht Seva Medal, Aide-de-Camp was commissioned in 26 MADRAS in
Dec 1980. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy,
Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.

•26-Sep-1946 => Committee formed
•15-Feb-1947 to 31-Mar-1947 => Sub-committee was sent to
Britain and France to study their youth organizations.
•After they returned , the reports were submitted .
•After the Independence, 1948 conflicts and wars proved that the
Independence which we get through non-violence can’t be
protected by non-violence.
•And it also proved that strengthen the Military force wasn’t only
solution, encourage the youth to take their jobs in Military force
was also important.

At first NCC started its way with
35,000 SD’s and 1,35,000 JD’s.
Now it reached to 13,00,000.

9. Moto of NCC
The need for having motto for the Corps was discussed in the 11th
Central Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting held on 11 Aug 1978. The
mottos suggested were “Duty and Discipline”; “Duty, Unity and
Discipline”; “Duty and Unity”; “Unity and Discipline”. The final decision
for selection of “Unity and Discipline” as motto for the NCC was taken in
the 12th CAC meeting held on 12 Oct 1980.
Principles of Discipline
1. Obey with smile,
2. Be punctual,
3. Work hard and without fuss,
4. Make no excuses and tell no lies.
10. History of Aim
In 1988 Thappan committee was ordered to
evaluate NCC’s aims and objectives.
Report submitted in June 1988 by Thappan
committee, as follows:
To develop qualities of character, courage,
comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook,
spirit of adventure and sportsmanship and the ideals
of selflessness service among the youth to make
them useful citizens.
To create a human resource of organized, trained
and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of
life including the Armed Forces and always be available
for the service of the nation.
11. After this was approved by MOD in March 2001
are as under
To develop character, comradeship, discipline,
leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure,
sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among
the youth of the country.
To create a human resource of organized , trained
and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of
life and always be available for the service of the nation.
To provide a suitable environment to motivate the
youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.
12. History of NCC Song
• The Official song of NCC is “Kadam Mila ke chal” was adopted
at 1963.

a hindi song “Hum Sab Hindi Hain”.
