Objective Working towards developing a career in fields utilizing the technical know-how of a chemical
engineer. A hard-working and self-motivated graduate student, I have completed and am part
of advanced projects and have trained undergraduates in the process.
Education Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Troy, NY, USA
Ph.D.,Chemical and Biological Engineering Aug 2012 - May 2017(Expected)
Advisor: Prof. Patrick T. Underhill
Research area: Engineering colloidal particles in fluids and fluid-interfaces: From the synthe-
sis, properties and applications of Micro-Emulsions, Janus particles to Antibody Rheology
GPA : 3.80/4
Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS) Pilani, India
B.E. (Hons.),Chemical Engineering July 2008 - May 2012
GPA : 8.55/10, Rank-14/78
Experience Graduate Research Assistant, Dynamics of Complex Fluid Lab, Rensselaer Poly-
technic Institute, Troy, NY, USA Aug 2012 - Present
• Self-propelling particles: Working with micron and sub-micron particles to fabricate
smart materials called “Janus Motors” which have potential applications in nanomedicine
and chemotaxis.
• Rheology of micro-emulsions: Making a variety of particle-stabilized emulsions (Pickering
emulsions) to understand the role of temperature and the shape/geometry of stabilizing
particles in their flow properties and viscoelasticity.
• Microrheology of complex fluids: Using tracer particles in complex fluids such as protein
solutions to understand their viscoelasticity, protein-protein interactions (PPI) and how
these are affected by pH and ionic strength.
Graduate Research Intern, Genetics and Molecular Biology Lab, North Eastern
Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya, India Dec 2015 - Jan 2016
• Analyzed the anti-cancer property of Russel viper venom Ruviprase, a 50 kDa protein,
on cancer cell lines (MCF-7 cell line) by estimating cell glutathione levels, checking
for proapoptotic proteins and analyzing the expression of genes regulating proapoptotic
proteins.
• Gained first-hand experience in cell culture, glutathione estimation, Western blot, Re-
verse transcription PCR and real-time PCR techniques.
Undergrad Intern, CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore, Kar-
nataka, India Jan-June 2012
• Performed electroless deposition and characterization of duplex coatings of Ni-P/Ni-P-W
on Mg alloy AZ31B, commonly used in aircraft parts and pairs for their good weight-to-
strength ratio.
Graduate Teaching Assistant, Department of Chemical and Biological Engg., Rens-
selaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA Fall 2013, Spring 2015 & 2016
