The supposed evils of using Excel are commonly talked about by providers of cloud-based budgeting and planning applications. However, there is no dispute that Excel is the most widely used tool for budgeting and planning, and many cloud-based budgeting solutions like to provide an “Excel-like” experience to make them seem easy to use and roll-out. But as most users realize quickly, ‘Excel-like’ does not equal Excel.
