Prince Mkhonto presented on APPA-AQA transition projects to the 3rd Annual Air Quality Governance Lekgotla. He discussed projects to review APPA registration certificates, develop an air quality management planning manual, and establish the South African Air Quality Information System (SAAQIS) website. He also highlighted capacity development initiatives for local authorities and provinces as they take on new air quality responsibilities under the AQA by September 2009 when the APPA is repealed. The presentation provided an overview of progress made in transitioning to implement the AQA but noted that areas of concern remain.
