5. Customer Benefits
This is important. You’ll want to list features and benefits associated with
your products and services you offer.
Take time and ask yourself: How can my products and services benefit my
customers? Include your answers associated with each that you have
listed. This helps potential customers understand you business and what
you have to offer them.
6. Grab the Customers Attention
You can quickly and effectively do this by incorporating a great headline.
Make it “eye” catching by making it bold and easy to read and understand.
Read our blog about selecting the right font here. Include sub-headings,
this makes it easier to read and you’ll be able to easily describe additional
content. Keep them short and detailed. Most people only read headlines
or just glance at your EDDM postcard, so it’ important to grab their
attention quickly! Look at the image above. This is a great example…you
can easily see the “25% Off”. It’s big and bold making it difficult for you to
overlook.
7. Use Bullets
How do you emphasize something in text? You use bullets! They help get
your point across and it’s easy for customers to read and understand your
primary message.
Also, potential customers are more likely to read bullet-points rather than
taking time to read an entire paragraph of content.
8. Writing the Message
Your tone should be consistent throughout the postcard. Make it personal.
This can be done by making yourself think your writing a close friend. As
an example, try not include the word “our” into the copy. You’ll want to
make it more personal. Include the work “you” instead. You’re speaking to
your customers and it’s best to address them.
9. Call to Action
You want to get a response from your EDDM postcard. As example, you
may want to generate more foot traffic to the store, online traffic or
making more online purchases. Using a call-to-action not only helps
customers know what to do next, they help track the progress of your
campaign.
You can include “stop in today and receive 20% - Ends June 30th”.You have
a date associated with the EDDM. This makes it easier to track the
success and use the data for future campaigns.
10. Look Over Your Work
This is an important process that is often overlooked. Keep in mind when
designing your postcard, there can be some typos and additional errors
you may have overlooked. Before sending off your final project to get
printed by an online printer, make sure you proofread your work.
It’s also recommended to have others review it as well. Not only will they
be able to look over for errors, they will be able to tell you if the postcard
message is clear and concise. If it passes…go print them! If you need help
with a design, we can help!
11. These tips may be helpful, but they can be applied to additional business
materials such as business cards, brochures, postcards and more!
Remember to keep you content and message short and informative. It’s
important to think like a customer. That will help you create meaningful
content and you’ll get a better understanding of your customers needs.
