3. 1.Introduction
Sociology is defined as a science of society. It studies social life as a
whole. Social life is so complex that it is impossible to isolate social
problems . The life of a man is multi-sided. In an individual’s life
there are economical, legal ,religious ,political ,anthropological
aspects and so on. In our society as well as western countries ,this
subject makes a comparative study among the people in the past
and present society.

The word ‘Anthropology’ is derived from two Greek words,’
Anthrops’ meaning ‘Man ‘ and ‘Logos ‘ meaning ‘study ’.
Anthropology means the study of man as well as the
development of man. It also means the development of
human race right from the very beginning till the present
time .

Anthropology as a subject means, the study of man and the
culture which developed in the past and present. It studies
about different categories of people throughout the world
beginning with the earliest human beings who lived over a
million years ago as well as the development of man until the
present day. Though the youngest of the traditional social
science ,it has developed and gone ahead of many of them.
