5. Please Note
1. Jio /BSNL and Airtel Post-paid mobile connections are operational and roaming Prepaid SIMs are
non-functional in Ladakh.
2.Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations. Travelers
littering may be fined.
3.Carry insulated water bottle with you, so that you can refill. Drinking water at regular intervals can
also be helpful with AMS so irrespective of how you are traveling; ensure that you are carrying a
couple of litters of water and in-taking it regularly
4.Carry enough cash as the number of ATMs in high-altitude regions is comparatively less and there
are long queues at times.
5. Guidelines issued by the State-Government are to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained.
Frequent hand sanitization and use of mask recommended.
6) Travelers must also install Arogya Satu app on their phones.
7) Tourists arriving in ladakh both Air & Road must have a negative RT-PCR Report not older than 96
hours

Foreign nationals of Pakistani origin, Myanmar & those who possess Diplomatic & Official Passport
are not allowed to visit restricted areas (Pangong Lake-Nubra Valley -Tsomoriri Lake & Hanle) of
Ladakh Region
9)Avoid Smoking & Alcohol consumption or use it minimum
I know, this is easier said than done but it definitely helps. Even at several of the high altitude passes,
you will find boards put up by Indian Army advising people not to smoke at such heights. Also stay
away from any sleeping pills or anti-depressant medicines.
10)Electronics
Chargers of all your electronic devices
Spare Battery for your camera if you are into photography
Power Bank if you plan to use your phone camera a lot. Batteries die faster than regular rate in
cold environment.
Spare memory cards if you are a trigger-happy person clicking pictures at every turn
11)Documents
At least one government issued identity card like Aadhar card /driver’s license/Passport. Please ensure
that you are carrying both the original and a few photocopies of it.
Copies of your flight tickets if traveling by air
Hotel reservation slips if booked in advance
7. 12)Medicines for AMS in Ladakh (acute mountain sickness)
Acetazolamide, also known as Diamox, is the preferred medicine. It helps your body get used to higher
altitudes more quickly and reduces minor symptoms. Take a dose of Diamox a day before you climb,
PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING THE MEDICINE. Apart from Diamox, carry some
other basic medicines for headache, upset stomach, fever, cold and cough. If possible, I will also
recommend carrying a small pack of glucose. If the high altitude, long hours of travel and mountain
sickness start to take a toll, it can work miracles to keep you going, providing instant energy
13)Do not exert yourself
Keep your body relaxed, try to walk slowly, and do not exert yourself with any unnecessary activities
that will leave you panting.
14) LUGGAGE
Choose just one backpack which can accommodate all your primary luggage including clothes,
tolitres etc
While choosing the luggage bag avoid strollers or heavy suitcase
You should also carry a Smaller backpack or rucksack for everyday travel. In this bag you can carry
your documents, water bottle, snacks etc
